Hello again, a little bit longer wait for this battle report since game night was missed last week.
So as the Tyranids won the last game (seen here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/574859.page)
to secure a foothold, we used this game to see if they could expand their invasion on the planet of Tarsis Ultra.

Tyranids 1250

130-Tyranid Prime-deathspitter

165-3x Hive Guard
100-2x Zoanthrope
100-2x Zoanthrope

205-Tervigon-Electrogrubs
120-30x Termagants

175-Exocrine
255-Trygon Prime-Miasma Cannon

Imperial Guard 1250

155-CCS-Carapace Armor, Astropath
---Chimera

65-Sly Marbo
105-5x Stormtroopers-2x Melta

70-Veterans
555-Infantry Platoon
---Platoon Command-3x plasma, chimera, Al'Raheem
---Infantry Squad-melta, Commissar w/meltabombs
---Infantry Squad-melta
---Infantry Squad-plasma
---Infantry Squad-plasma
---Infantry Squad-plasma

150-Manticore
150-Leman Russ Battle Tank

Mission: Big Guns Never Tire

Deployment: Dawn of War

Warlord Traits
CCS--Command Trait--Inspiring Presence
Tyranid Prime--Personal trait--Master of Defense

Psychic Powers
Tervigon--Dominion
Zoans 1--Horror, Warp Blast
Zoans 2--Catalyst, Warp Blast

5 objectives (little black markers in deployment picture)

Imperial Guard won the roll off and chose the side with the forest.

Delpoyment:
IG--Al'raheem's Platoon, Sly, and Stormtroopers are in reserve. Veteran Squad deploys behind the watchtower while the manticore and LRBT take positions on the left. CCS chimera to the right of the LRBT.
Tyranids--Tyranid prime+gaunts and Trygon prime are in reserve. Tervigon deploys next to the production facility. Exocrine in front of the silo while C(atalyst) Zoans deploy behind the same silo. Hive guard
deploy out of LOS behind the central building and H(orror) Zoans deploy centrally to provide synapse.

Imperial Guard Turn 1:

Chimera and Manticore back up to avoid the Exocrine. Manticore whiffs spectacularly, LRBT plinks a wound off the Exocrine and the CCS chimera does the same to the tervigon.

Tyranid Turn 1:

C Zoans cast Catalyst on Hive Guard. Everything moves up. Tervigon rolls a 4,5,and a 6 for a massive 15 gaunts!!!! Everything runs in the shooting phase except the hive guard who take a pot shot at the LRBT
and end up knocking a hullpoint off!

Imperial Guard Turn 2:

Here comes the BOOM! Everything in reserve comes on. Al'raheem's unit chooses to come on the right side to kill the tervigon. And this is where my opponent gets Ballsy...Marbo pops up in between Zoan groups and
Stormtroopers roll a hit to deepstrike in between the tervigon, marbo, and the zoans. Combined shooting from stormtroopers, blob squad, and the chimeras brings the tervigon down to 1 wound. Being the
"No Guts, No Glory!!" player that he is Imperial guard toss the demo charge right over the stormtroopers head and blow up the tervigon, taking 9 gants with it.
Here is how close everything was where he did all this:

Rest of the shooting consists of both heavy tanks knocking another wound off the exocrine, bringing him down to 2.

Tyranid Turn 2:

All of the Tyranid reserves come on. Prime+Gaunts come on to combat the blob squad. Trygon pops up to start wreaking havoc in the backfield. C zoans cast catalyst on hive guard again.Exocrine moves to draw a bead
on the blob squad who had their special weapons exposed to kill the tervigon and ends up killing 8 guys total including all of the special weapons!! Hive Guard move up to take cover from the Exocrine and shake and
glance the Manticore for 2 HP of damage. Prime+Gaunts take out another 8 from the blob and due to some poor placement end up killing the commissar and an officer. H zoans blast the Stormtrooper out of existence.
The small gaunt unit moves back to shoot marbo and end up revenge killing him. Tyrgon vaporise the vet unit in the back with its template and containment spines.

Imperial Guard Turn 3:

CCS chimera moves to block the Trygon, while its contents run away from the beast. Al'raheem's PCS hop out and kill the exocrine leaving the hive guard exposed but thankfully the LRBT rolls a 12 for scatter to kill 2 gaunts from the small unit. Blob shoots up Prime+Gaunt unit and through some bad rolling on my part end up killing the prime but only 6 gaunts. Manticore goes to hide in the far bottom left corner.

Tyranid Turn 3:

Tyrgon moves up and kills Al'raheem's unit. Hive guard barely take out the Manticore. 4 man gaunt unit runs back to home objective. C zoans cast catalyst on other zoan and then run towards the LRBT. Big Gaunt unit
+ H zoans shoot and then charge the guardsmen unit, killing a fair number for both sides.

Imperial Guard Turn 4:

Not looking good for the soldiers of the Imperium...Leman Russ scores a direct hit on C zoans but bounces off their warp field. PCS chimera takes out a gaunt from the small unit. CCS get back in their chimera to hide.

The blob vs. gaunts and zoans sill continues as they seem to slap ineffectively at each other:

Tyranid Turn 4:

Hive Guard move up and blow up CCS chimera, killing 4 guys inside along with wounding the commander. C zoans shoot the LRBT but only manage a glance. The Trygon Smashes the LRBT but only manages to stun it once.
The Blob/gaunt slap-ticklefest finally ends as the gaunts sweep the fleeing guardsmen. Poor Imperial guard are down to a chimera, a commander w/his buddy, and a stunned LRBT.

Imperial Guard Turn 5:
No pic (sorry!), LRBT dies to the trygon, CCS run to the far bottom right corner, refusing to give slay the warlord. chimera goes all out to take out that small unit of gaunts and actually kills 2

Tyranid Turn 5:

Trygon rolls piss poor for cover and barley makes it into range for containment spines but the CCS makes all the carapace saves! Both Zoans shoot at the chimera to finish it off. 1 hive guard is in range, 2 hits, 2 wounds, so the buddy is dead but the commander passes his 5+ refractor field save! IG still wants one last valiant charge so we roll to see if it continues...and it does

IG turn 6:

Preferring to die on his own terms the commander valiant moves up to assault the trygon...

but gets overwatched to death!! Can't say he didn't die bravely or go down without a fight

Victory to the Great Devourer!!

Tyranid MVP: Probably the Trygon Prime, once he came up he was eating a unit a turn. Nom vets, nom Al'raheem, nom LRBT, nom Commander....although the hive guard deserve an honorable mention for keeping that scary manticore down.

IG MVP: Probably Marbo for throwing the perfect demo charge! but commander comes in a close second for never giving up!!

Thanks for reading! This is my second battle report and I tried to make some adjustments or additions based on feedback from the first one.
Any feedback is appreciated, and if you just enjoyed the battle report feel free to comment also!

Thanks a lot for this cool report !

Just one question, you said your opponent score a hit for Marbo deepstrike, but can Marbo deepstrike without deviation ?

@tetsuo666 sorry that was probably poor wording on my part, he didn't roll for scatter for marbo but marbo did come first and
then he placed the stormtroopers right next to all that, without scattering!

Glad you guys like it so far!

Great report, especially like the gutsy as hell guard army but that's my personal bias - really nice nids as well! Looking forward to more.

Run a whole lot of wfrp and other rpg's, play The Woods and Kill Team, gather and look mournfully at imperial guard knowing I'll never finish enough to use them on the tabletop

Love that this battle includes a Trygon Prime pulling its weight; all too often now we hear that they are under-performing.

Have you considered the Maw-Claws on him for PE?

I like the last pic of the Commander on his back lol. Misma Cannon does have a Template so it gets a d3 hits in overwatch right?

Man, Trygon prime with miasma is nasty. I would even consider the Y'mgarl factor and regen on top of that. Maybe another trygon with reaper, regen, toxin/adrenal. 1 CC 1 range menace.

@Mythra yes, he shot with his template for overwatch

Thanks for all the nice feedback! Next battle report in a couple Weeks as my friend is away for the weekend, might see a couple different armies depending on what is to gain by each race competing!

Good report, I enjoyed it. Your Tyranids and the Guard looked good as well, so it is a shame that there wasn't more closeups of them. I vote for Tyranids against Orks in your next report, because who doesn't love an epic punchup?

I'd also like to mention great photos. They can really make or break a battle report for us visual folks. Also great to hear of another Nid victory. Your tales make me want to break out the Trygon Prime, not sure if you could handle dropping a Tyrannofex though.

great storytelling through imagery. when you use your camera to tell a story the whole thing is alot more enjoyable. really fantastic job. good to see a IG player with some guts to play with some bravado, and great job by the nids doing what they do best.
