First we have this:

https://bible.org/article/will-israel-build-temple-jerusalem

Then we have this:

http://www.israelvideonetwork.com/finally-israel-officially-calling-for-third-temple-to-replace-al-aqsa-mosque

http://www.timesofisrael.com/minister-calls-for-third-temple-to-be-built/

Whether you believe the bible or not, if this gains any momentum you can plan on battening the hatches.

I'm all for it, if we can build a wall around the entire area. Its like the entire region's sole purpose is to invent new ways to feth each other over.

Kind of like law school.

If they want to build a temple in Jerusalem then let them built it.

It's not like it is going to cause the rise of the Second Jewish Empire or anything. Regardless of what the bible may say.

The problem is, if they want to build the Third Temple on top of the Mosque.

Thats going to create some problems...

Those problems are going to happen no matter what. Muslims get offended if you draw a picture, write a book, sing a song, watch TV, wear the wrong thing...might as well knock down their temple while we're at it...at least then they'll have something legitimate to cry about for once.

This is why Religions need to learn to get on with each other. The world would be a much nicer place. I wouldn't see the problem of building it next to the mosque.

On the flip side, Christianity had to deal with the Hagia Sophia becoming a mosque.

You're missing what its saying. Its saying tear down the Mosque and put up the temple.

The Al Aqsa Mosque is the 3rd most important in Islam. Now the Wailing Wall is the First for Jews, but there is no temple. Judging by the site its just right wing (left wing, some wing!) nonsense.

Here's a novel idea for the region. Why don't we just leave each other the hell alone?

Because that's logical and makes sense, and I think we can all agree that the world could do without logic and sense.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Yeah, I'm not sure why this would seem like an OK idea. "Well, your stuff is less important to you (in my opinion) than the stuff I want, so I'm going destroy your stuff" doesn't seem like a particularly good approach to deciding to trash a building that's stood for almost a thousand years.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Ok there are several, relgious problems with the third temple.

1. You would need to remove the Al Aqsa mosque.
Destroying any mosque is a problem Israel tries to avoid, but the Al Aqsa mosque is no ordinary mosque but the third holiest shrine in Islam.
This will cause big ruptions with Islamics.

2. We dont know exactly where the temple is supposed to be, and its position is supposed to be exact.
This will cause big ruptions with some Jews.

3. The third temple is where the 'abomination that causes desolation will stand' and signifies the end times.
This will cause big ruptions with some some right wing Christians, others will love it.

4. It is not known if Israel actually has enough gold for the temple roof.

5. Temple officiaries must be provably from the correct tribe to officiate., this has been difficult since 79AD.
The surname Levi is no proof of itself that one is a Levite.

Now it is often commented upon that Israel has been secretly accebling temple paraphernalia for some time, and most years at the 'appointed time' right wing religious Jews enter the temple mount with intention to place the foundation stone of the third temple, to be blocked by Israeli police.

This is a massive issue in religious circles, as big as it gets really. Israel knows this and has long been backpedaling.

However that being said this is likely just the personal wet dream of a loudmouth minister and not Israeli policy. I can see why Netanyahu et al would want someone from the religious right as Minister of Housing and Construction, it means they have a fanatic hardliner in charge of settlement building.
That does mean that he might go off on a loose cannon tirade from time to time.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

If they tore it down I would feel offended because of the damage to an ancient building. We have enough ruins without adding more to the pile.

If I may suggest an alternative, perhaps Detroit? I think they can knock down pretty much whatever they want there.

Right but why do they have to build the Third Temple there. Why not some other place like Omaha?

Of course, the thing sits near a fault line, as I understand it. Might not need to be knocked down by human agency. If an Earthquake gets it, the place will be up for grabs.

Because it's believed the Ark of the Covenent, some candlesticks Moses crafted, and the shattered tablets containing the 10 commandments are there.(not joking). All that aside, it's the holiest place on the planet to the Jews.

Where? Under the rubble somewhere? I thought the Romans carted all that stuff off.

If not, wouldn't it be kinda blasphemous to disturb the existing remains?

Joke question Frazzie?

The Temple of Jerusalem has to be built on the land purchased by King David for the purpose, on the site where the temple of Melchizedek was supposed to stand in the Holy City, of Jerusalem.

Besides:

If you want a 'replica' there are already plenty to choose from.

According to reports of where the Ark is, it is resting in a very significant place of itself, directly under one of the candidate sites for Golgotha.
I am prepared to believe the Ark is hidden in Jerusalem, the events of its disappearance link up and there are lots of old collapsed tunnels.

The story has spawned interesting testimonies also.

There's been a crapton of artifacts taken from under there, but the digskeep getting shut down withthe Muslims taking offense to having ground dug out from under one of their holiest of sites. The whole situation gets a bit tenser when a cabinet minister calls publically for a demolition of the place followed by a temple being put up. Over the years, there have been similar calls, but Idon't know of one from someone that high in the government.

This joke is in such bad taste I don't even know what to say. Not to mention the fact there never was a mosque built on the site of the twin towers....

I still laughed though so

I know... but they were/are putting a mosque "close" to the site, which, depending on your chosen news source, was a big deal a while back.
