Subject: Shia LeBeouf wears paper bag to movie premire
Not-famous Shia LaBeouf out-weirds himself at 'Nymphomaniac' premiere
In case you haven’t heard, Shia LaBeouf isn’t famous anymore. And he’s serious about it. Well, as serious as a guy with a bag on his head can be.
At the Berlin premiere of Nymphomaniac, the forthcoming Lars von Trier film which has made headlines because of its explicit content, LaBeouf walked the red carpet sporting a paper bag with the phrase, “I’m not famous anymore” written on it. Neither the bag nor the phrase are anything new for LaBeouf, who has worn the accessory before and used the phrase frequently on his Twitter account in the past weeks.
The stunt comes after the actor walked out of a press conference for the film earlier in the day, per THR.
In all honesty, we think the actor might be onto something; can you wish upon a bag and make it come true?
Think we got a nice new kind of crazy out of Hollywood. Which is fine by me, we haven't had a good whackjob since 'bi-winning'.

It's interesting how this is playing out, in a way.
He gets caught plagiarizing something. He googles an apology note, and plagiarizes that. Having been caught again, he bizarrely decides to write it off as performance art. At this point the phrase "when you're in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging" comes to mind.
He seems content to simply keep running with this though. I can't blame him, people like a spectacle and it's not like his acting is going to make him popular.

This is also stealing from others as well.
Before borrowing liberally from The Unknown Comic and Thomas Pynchon, LaBeouf had appeared unmasked at an earlier press conference where he was asked about appearing in a movie with so many sex scenes—hardly a question befitting a movie called Nymphomaniac. “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much,” LaBeouf replied, before quickly exiting the stage to a platform more worthy of his talents, such as Twitter. As with all of LaBeouf’s words, these were also written by someone else: French footballer Eric Cantona, who issued that precise statement before storming out of his own press conference in the ’90s, following a conviction for assault against a fan.

I honestly don't get the Shia LebBeuof hate at least on the screen that is, can't say I know much about him outside of his acting career (nor much about his acting either).

It isn't so much 'hate' such as that for Bieber et al, but that he recently plagiarized others work...multiple times. Plagiarism is bad, you see, and those that practice it worthy of derision. He is mad becuase he got called on it and it seems to have hurt his feelings.

Its like he, Bieber, and Charlie Sheen need to go hang out somewhere where they can all rant at each other.

1. Its a viral marketing campaign for a forthcoming film
2. He's legitimately had enough of fame and recognizes the misplaced value that (American) society places on celebrity and is actually campaigning against...
Its probably the first one...
BTW, is it really plagiarism? Is he claiming it as his own work? Am I guilty of plagiarism if I say "ENGLISH melon-fether, DO YOU SPEAK IT!??" in response to someone I can't understand? To me thats just quoting.

That much plagiarism is intentional and not just as plagiarism. He's obviously up to something... Whether it gets the desired effect or not is something else.

I don't consider that plagiarism (except perhaps item #3), he's not passing it off as his own work anymore than I am plagiarizing my favorite band by posting their song lyrics on facebook (not that I've done that in the past year or two).
In any case, it seems to me that he thinks himself more imaginative and creative than he really is. In his mind he seems to be taking inspiration from others and adapting them into something new, for the most part he's seriously missing the mark.

Seems to be a ripoff of Joaquin Phoenix's stunt where he claimed to be dropping out of the business, grew a beard, and seemed to be stoned all the time. Then he made some sort of film about it. It was a stunning boxoffice bomb, too.

The only problem with this is that Sheen does fun work. Bieber and Shia are just idiot jackasses without talent.
And stupid names. Don't forget that. Anyone who named their son Shia, is a jack ass, and if he chose that as a stage name, he's a jack ass. Either way. Jack ass
I haven't really been able to figure out what to think about Shie LeBeouf's meltdown. I'm used to watching really talented people fall apart, and my respect for their work gets balanced against the stupid nonsense the say, or in some cases the actual harm they end up doing.
But with Shia LeBeouf we've got a guy who doesn't seem to have any kind of neurosis or behavioural problem, he's a just a particularly untalented guy who mysteriously got picked out by the Hollywood machine as the next big thing. And so now he's feeling all this pressure to be as amazing and talented as his celebrity status implies. But he isn't talented or interesting in any way - he isn't charismatic like a movie star ought to be, and he isn't edgy and creative like an artist ought to be. He's just a random guy, with as little talent as the rest of us.
In a sense I actually feel more empathy for the guy, because I can see myself in his shoes, because I think if I somehow got thrown in to the spotlight and everyone expected me to be some kind of amazing artist, I'd freak out because I'm not.
I mean, I probably wouldn't plagiarize someone else's work and then write a douchy apology. And I probably wouldn't put a paper bag on my head either. But I proably would get suckered in to starring in one of those Lars Von Triers movies that is probably all very important and meaningfully and clever but let's be honest people are going to watch it because it has celebrities taking their clothes off in it.

It was a low cost, arthouse experiment. Picking out a film like that and
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. Was there more to that thought, or was there an intent to end it so abruptly as a bit of performance art? Because if so, man that is meta.

I'm not clever enough to be any kind of meta.
There was more, something about how such films are low investment, with a small chance of a really big return, and so it isn't fair to pick out any single one of them, but then I decided it wasn't really worth saying and meant to delete the whole thing. Which I somehow failed to do before posting...

I dunno... Melancholia was really, really good. That's primarily why I have my eye on this one. All the nudity is just a bonus. That said, considering the subject matter, and who's directing, I have my doubts that all that nudity will end up being as enjoyable as some people would expect.
