As an adult this is just sickening. How can any republican continue to align themselves with Nugent after this. I understand not every one agrees with our current PotUS but really to drop that low...

(I mean, it's conceivable to me that he just heard it from a friend who happens to be a white supremacist, without necessarily being one himself, or knowing the origin of the phrase. Of course, the opposite is also conceivable. )

To be clear, I don't think "subhuman mongrel" needs to have been exactly what the Nazis said in order to be an inappropriate critique of any human being much less the President.

Oh, to be sure. But Ted Nugent saying wildly inappropriate things and having absolutely no respect for the office of the presidency isn't anything new. It just seemed like there was an implication that he had a more concrete connection to the Nazi angle.

It's really not the same as bitch. Last time I checked no one used that term to justify the extermination of millions. Subhuman Mongrel has massive historic meaning bundled up with it, just like the N word. The power is not in the word but the meaning and context behind it, and "subhuman mongrel" is such a specific phrase, not used in common parlance so it's not likely he didn't know the meaning and the weight it carries.

If you don't understand the meaning I suggest you re-read the article in question.

OT. I didn't know who Ted was until I saw a show on BBC4 about American Rock. He seemed an odd one at times

I'm with Manchu on the Nazi connection. Whether he was or was not paraphrasing what they were known for saying is irrelevant.

Subhuman speaks for itself, but considering that mongrel is a term for mix breed dogs and Obama is from a mixed race background it's clear that he is referencing this. Does Ted Nugent hold every person from a mixed race background in this light, or does he reserve his scum-baggery for only Black and White couple's children?

Does he have any real connections to the Republican party or is this more Tea Party/Re-Nig territory?

yup... not that I agree with nugent,

but everyone crucifying nugent for saying stupid stuff, was totally ok with the same situation when the tables were turned and they or people like them were calling bush a nazi/fascist/ect

heck, even HERE in canada, our PM is called a fascist/dictator with plenty of hitler references by the left.

pointing out that the people now saying "shame on you ted" are also the people who did the exact same thing to bush, and/or at least voiced no outrage during similar slights and unacceptable terms against bush, is a point that is very valid.

Id rather be called a subhuman mongrel then a nazi, the latter term has far far FAR more negative connotations, and its current meaning does make a "nazi" out to be someone far less then human already.

Your argument is basically that its ok for the left to call the right a doo doo head, but its not ok for the right to call the left a super doo doo head. And again, that assumes you think mongrel is worst then nazi, which is a totally subjective thing, you are allowed to be more personally insulted by one personal insult over the other, subjectively, you are correct, but objectively, an insult is an insult.

my argument is that both sides are wrong when they are resorting to this kind of name calling, be it subhuman mongrel, or nazi, fasict, ect. and that we all should be on teds butt for what he said, but ALSO be on the guys on our side who say stupid stuff like this the next time the right is in power.
