Really what is the point? I honestly don't know

I thought their selling point was that they didn't have Caffeine in them in the first place? Isn't caffeine what causes the "crash"? Perhaps the decaf variety is for an even easier crash?

I used one once when I had a four hour roving post in the middle of the night. It tasted like death, but it was such an insignificant amount of liquid that it was easy to swallow. I don't know why anyone would need such a horrible thing except in emergencies. I'd be hesitant to say that if you need to use one more than once or twice a week, you'd be better off adjusting your sleep schedule.

Nah, 5 Hour Energy does have caffeine. But its about the same as a small cup of coffee.

The energy comes from the other ingredients combined with the caffeine. The Decaff version is for people that are sensitive to caffeine but still need an energy boost.

There are people out there that caffine puts them to sleep. A frend of mine GF used to drink Jolt to put her to sleep.

Sometimes I sleep better after a Red Bull or cup of coffee right before I go to sleep.

Other times I get wired for the next 3-4 hours. It's odd. I assume it has to do with my current state of sleep deprivation and if I go to sleep before the drink kicks in.

Decaf ANYTHING is pointless.

I actually had a friend around who asked if I could make him a decaf soy cappucino (we have a proper cap machine and I am trained as a barista).

"No" was my response. We have no decaf and I don't like soymilk (neither does the wife) so we have none in the house.

Monster tastes like crap.

I myself do not partake of energy drinks at all. That being said this and the first response seem salient.

I've had two energy drinks: Mt Dew Kickstart and Starbucks Doubleshot; I enjoy both. The Starbucks one tastes like any regular coffee/milk drink, ie delicious, and the MD one tastes like MD, with a hint of aspartame. Actually, now that I can taste the aspartame, I only enjoy them when I chug them, and I've had about 3 in the past 4 months, so...yeah. Starbucks wins!

Monster, Red Bull and 5 hr energy just look painful. I had a drop, literally a single drop of Red Bull and gagged. What is wrong with people?

Mormons can drink it, seeing as they are prohibited from drinking anything with caffeine in it.


Edit: I once drank 2 litres of monster in half an hour, it gave me the power to assemble thirty two chandeliers in five hours.

If I'm going for a coffee at 11 at night and don't want to be up for the next 4 hours, I make decaf.

Yeah, I've done decaf coffee at night. I love the taste of coffee, but don't always wanna be up all night.

I have been finding that every energy drink is difrent for every person. Myself, I drink Monster, and the ocasinal Rock Star. A frend of mine can only drink Monster, Red Bull causes him to...hurl chuncks and Rock Star causes his system to purge.
My Brother Drinks everything though, though he tells me that Monster taste like cotton candy.
I have a bunch of other freinds who trun green when I pop open a Monster, but drink Red Bull like it's water.

I used to use Monsters to keep myself going during LARPing (we have no "Game off" for a whole weekend- I am regularly fighting random monsters who were send in to attack our sleeping quarters at 4am, and have worn 30lbs of armor for 18 hours straight before.) But you know what? I found that Mountain Dew keeps me going just as well, without the horrible taste. I buy a two-liter before getting to the camp, and I am fine drinking off from that until at least Saturday.

Although I have brewed and drank an entire carafe of coffee at 11pm before at those events..........

Why would I want to drink something hot or warm? I pretty much only drink cold beverages except when sick. Then I will drink warm tea to soothe my throat.

Red Bull is nasty as hell. Rock Star is okay. Rock Star Fruit Punch was pretty good and I drank the low carb version for a while because they were being sold for something $0.88 each.

Seriously though, I'd go with trex's idea with the Monster Rehab flavors. Fewer calories and better flavor.

Monster and Rockstar are so horrible and sweet. Red bull is fine, but if I'm at work water and caffeine pills do the job if it's a late one.
Also, fresh coffee if it's available beats all.

Yeah, assuming you're not talking about Absolutely Zero.

I buy cases of Lo-Carb and Zero Ultra at Costco and Sam's club all the time.

I feel 100% the opposite direction. Monster/Rock Star are horribly nasty. Too sweet and always give me a stomach ache. Though I prefer coffee, I could drink Red Bull until my heart exploded. It helps that it goes together well with Jagermeister, which I enjoy the taste of, even straight.

I have no idea how anyone can say Monster is too sweet but Red Bull is fine, they both taste like sugar water.

And some people don't. Suggesting that real "men drink coffee" is ludicrous and a bit insulting.
