I am looking into getting a Kasrkin Squad (Storm Troopers).

Are they worth added to my force?

What is the best way to use these guys? Tactics wise?

You're getting a new Imperial Guard codex in about a month.

I'd wait, unless you really like the models.

Edit: Looking at them, they're just fancy cadians that you can use as about any IG infantry unit. Storm Troopers aren't my favorite unit. Are they the one with the hot-shot lasguns?

That depends on what the rest of your list looks like, really.

That said, they're cool model, and a melticide squad is pretty cheap, and can be shoehorned into pretty much anything. That or you can build a list around them as well.

The best what?

Sorry edited my post.....dyslexia at its best :(

I was meaning what is the best way to use these chaps tactics wise?

I currently have 3 Lemans Russ battle tanks, 2 platoons totalling 60 shock troops supported by 2 heavy weapons squads. I also use a hellhound and basilisk. (i'm a bit of newbie to 40k again after having around 10 years away).

Either in squads of 5 to deepstrike a pair of melta or plasma guns somewhere to kill something and then die horribly, or in a squad of 10 with plasma, melta, or flamers and use them with deepstriking to create a mid-game threat on an objective.

I ran 30-stormie lists before, and it was fun.

I just love the models. I plan on picking up a squad or two along with 3 meltagun and 3 plasmagun kasrkin troopers and running them as vet squads. Makes it easy to distinguish from the run of the mill troopers.

Yea I really like the idea of having an 'ODST' style army, dropping them in causing havoc and destruction, pulling the enemies attention away from the rest of my army allowing them to sit back with the heavy tanks and slowly move up with the light infantry.

You've sort of got to double down to make them work at all like that. 10 stormtroopers is a nuisance. 30 stormtroopers is something so annoying your opponent will actually have to change what they're doing to counter it.

And yeah, those models look damn fine.

I'd get them. Even if the new Guard codex makes them go the way of Penal Legionnaires you can use them as cool looking Vets. I'm going to buy some for that exact purpose.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts
AOS Stormcast: Just starting.
The Empire : ~60-70 models.

Well if I go for 30, that's over 500 points so a fair chunk of my army.

I imagine however 3 Leman Russ's hitting them from the front then 30 Stormtroops landing amongst there ranks would be very annoying and upset any plan my opponent had mid game.

I will need to get some meltas and plasmas as I don't think the hotshot lasgun things are all that great.

I use them as Veterans with carapace armour, rather than Stormtroopers. I too got them because the sculpts are ace

I also have considered getting these for a while and was worried that being old and metal that they may not have held up as well. Did you have any issues with them when you got them?

I bought them ages ago so I don't know if the moulds suffered badly over time in terms of quality of casting. Regarding the quality of the model design, I think they still stand up against more modern sculpts. They are certainly newer sculpts than the standard Cadian infantry, and I think the heavier armour and the better looking helmets make them nicer models than the standard Cadians.
