Wondered if anyone else did this. For example, I used greenstuff and my paints to fix a dragon ornament, which I bought at a discount because it's wing was slightly broken, I managed to get it to look nearly identical to the other wing. Also used the paints and ard coat to fix a bracelet that had the silver peeling off to reveal the rubbish copper colour below. Also remember improving on paint jobs on toys that were painted in a rush by whoever produced them lol.

Yeah, fixed quite a lot of furniture and ornaments. Though if you include all the diy supplies I use in modeling then I've done a hell of a lot with my hoby supplies

I hid a tear in the kitchen floor lino with super glue, various GW paints and some gloss varnish. Worked perfectly!

When I papered our living room last year there was an awkward spot where two pieces of wallpaper met at the top of the wall but not at the bottom so there was a slight V shaped gap only mm wide that began about half way down (fire breast corner, really annoying!) so I used my fine detail brush and some bleached bone to paint it in, nobody's ever noticed so I think I got away with it!

Epoxy putties and cements are very useful in DIY. PVA glue has a lot of household uses too.

So I'm not the only one then.

That's a relief.

Although eventually my house may end up being converted into a giant 40k terrain piece.

Well, I do use my wargaming stuff for DIY... but most the stuff I use I'd probably own that stuff anyway. Knives, chemicals, glues. I have greenstuff for hobby things but use plumbers epoxy around the house if I need that. I don't think I've ever used my hobby acrylic paints for anything, I usually buy the paint I need from a hardware store.

The only thing that might get a mention which I want to use for DIY but I haven't yet is my airbrush.

Tools are tools, paint is paint, etc. Plenty of nuance to be found in the different varieties, but I can't think of a single hobby supply so specific that I couldn't (and haven't, for a good portion of them) use it for an unrelated task. Actually, I think I've put more general tools and materials to hobby use than the other way around!

I've repaired a few nicknacks and such here and there. (Mostly figurines and the like.)

I did repair a large chip in a piece of furniture for my mother once, using green stuff and paints. It was a nearly invisible repair unless you knew exactly what you were looking for. She was quite pleased.

I also used plumber's putty (which I mainly use for very large fill jobs or for some of my other hobbies) to repair the cord-wrap on my wife's vacuum. That one wasn't so much for cosmetics as for practicality, so it isn't pretty, but it is very sturdy.

Back in the 80's I used Milliput on my grandads Austin Maxi which he'd forgotten to put antifreeze in and it cracked the engine block. Last him about 5 months before he scrapped it.

Neodymium magnets for the cupboards, epoxy putty for tons of stuff, Quickshade as an actual wood stain a few times, and my roll of 12ga and 26ga wire come in handy for EVERYTHING.

A few days ago I got drunk and decided it was time to put a new tire on my car, except I forgot to put on the e-brake and it rolled off the jack which cracked my bumper a little.

I'm planning on gorilla gluing the crack then greenstuffing it ever so slightly, then sanding and spray painting it, lol.

- My glue in particular has come in handy on several occasions.

- Almost every time new girls are at my house and eventually get curious enough to inspect a black box under my desk, they will use the Citadel acrylics to paint tiny details on their nails. The large selection of brushes really makes it fun for them too, they have a blast.

- Knives are always good in different sizes and edges.

- The little Citadel hand drill has saved my ass a few times.

- My dad once used some Citadel Scab Red to touch up a chip on his 'Vette's rear bumper. He's since given it a new paint job but it matched almost perfectly back in the day.
