If this is in the wrong spot I apologize for that.
I find I don't play as often as I used to and as much as I would hate to do it, I figure I need to thin the herd a little. The first Army I'd probably let go of is my Adepta Sororitus Army. Each vehicle has the bitz to make either a rhino or Immolator and all are true Adepta vehicles. In addition to what is in the link I also have more sisters with all kinds of weapons. I started adding up the cost once and stopped at $1500.
So the question from you folks that have sold before. How and where would be the best way to sell this? As an army, by units? Add a HW and SW in each lot or put them together by type and sell as a whole. Would I get more out of it from here, e-bay, Bartertown or some other site I don't know about? Clicking on the pic will take you to imageshack where there are some closeups.

First try putting it up on eBay as the full army. From the pic it seems well painted and in good condition.

Well, I second this. I'd go for ebay in the first place. How you thought about a starting prize?

No clue. This isn't even the whole army. I have another 2 Immolators, more sisters, the command squad characters, a Pentinent Engine and more HWs of different types also painted. I started collecting this army a long time ago. Not even sure how much I actually have in it myself now.

Sell all the painted stuff as a single army. If you have unpainted extras to the army it is best to sell those piecemeal. I have found the people who buy fully painted armies off of eBay aren't the type who want unpainted models to add later, they are buying a fully painted army for a reason after all!

I would definitely try to sell the whole painted army as a single lot.
I think there are quite a few people who would like to grab an entire "classic" SoB army painted and ready to rock.
I would be tempted myself if I had the money and it wasn't in the USA. (Though come to think of it, which I do, I could get it shipped to my brother in Oregon. Hmmmm......) Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW, try the DakkaDakka Swap Shop first.

I would put it on as the single army.
- Get some really good photos taken of it, show it off as much as possible, individual units etc. Not camera phone pics, use a decent camera - borrow one if necessary.
- Don't be afraid to pay to show off more pics, to highlight the ebay listing and to even put it on the front page. Take time with the text, layout of the advert etc. Sorry if this sounds patronising, I don't mean it to be - it's well documented that a good description, photos, layout and just generally time spent on a listing can add to the total of an auction.
I would then try a high price first off, higher than you think it is worth. You would be surprised what some people will pay for even a reasonably painted army, and especially something like SoB that aren't particularly common. I've sold a couple of armies for a lot more than they are worth, simply from doing the above.

I'd try to sell the entire army. Way more convenient, the extra cash you'd get by selling individual minis is not worth the hassle.
However, I would NOT sell minis like Seraphim Superiors, the Canoness with the laser mace and (non-Finecast) Conclave in that pack.
We're talking about OOP material, that should be treated accordingly.
You should really consider selling them separately, they are way more valuable than the others.
I'd even strip them of their paint, supply brand new bases and take several nice pictures of each individual mini. The extra effort may be worth it.

Sell as an entire army i'd say.. Put an advertisement on the trade forums here and bartertown and set a higher asking price than what you want ideally, so you can allow yourself to be bartered down. Also be patient, dont rush selling a well painted sisters army for less than its worth (unless you need the cash fast!)

I've tried listing a much larger, beautifully painted Sisters army on eBay twice, here twice and BTown twice. Nobody has offered me more than $700 for it. Take a peek in my gallery, and you'll see the kind of stuff we're talking about. It's like 150 models with Forgeworld.
Granted, I'm asking what it's WORTH and not a "just need it gone" price.
If you're going to sell it, you're better separating it into a couple different lost of full army size each. You'll have a better chance getting 2 takers at, say, $750 each than one at $1500.

This was what I was going to recommend as well. Splitting it into two large lots and removing the valuable single minis to sell individually would net the best return IMO.

Your Adeptus stuff looks really nicely painted Eric, I'm surprised you didn't manage to sell it (although, perhaps try it a few more times, it might just be a case of the right people not looking at the right time?)
I seem to get the most money from historical stuff I have sold, think there is probably still more money out there from 'collectors', who want even an average paintjob on something.

Isn't selling through eBay tricky though if the buyer tries to scam you?
I'm also asking because I'm about to drop a Space Marine Company-ish soon.

You've just got to cover your butt. Make sure everything's photographed, well packed and insure the package at the full amount of the auction plus shipping fees. If it allegedly arrives damaged, he'll have to return it to you before they'll help him. If the weight on the box returned to you is different than the one sent, it's going to be up to them to explain it. Also, you'll have insurance. A reminder that lying about the way a package arrived is a federal offense. It's Mail Fraud. If they're going to have to fork over a ton of money (They = USPS), they're more likely to look closely into any shenanigans on the part of the buyer.

It isn't a I need it gone. I'm just not too pleased with the current rule set and since I have 6 armies I'm considering thinning the herd a bit. I like this one but it wouldn't kill me to part with it. My Greenskins and IG are APOC sized with a bunch of FW so this would be the easiest of my larger armies to let go.

When I sell stuff on Ebay I put it at the price I want to sell it for and just leave it to keep relisting. Most times stuff sells for what I want for it. This is especially something I do with items I'm not in a hurry to sell (almost all of them).
That said an army like that's cost is going to severely limit your pool. I'd split it as evenly as possible and put each half up for the value you want with a link to the other half in each.

Thanks Eric. Hopefully I can sell to someone in the US or Canada, as it would seem the simplest. I've heard some countries are definite no- nos on shipping into or out of.

Alas, the market for large painted armies is always slow, and seems to be slowing. Everybody is looking for a deal, and GW retail prices have little relation to what you can get back.
The advice here has been solid. List ~2000 points per lot, keep painted and unpainted stuff separate, pick a price and let it ride on ebay, etc.
Look at sold auctions to get an idea of what the actual market price for your stuff is, and use that to set your minimum bid.
And, I hate to say this, but I've sold a lot of painted armies recently. Make your peace with getting what you get, and not worrying about how much its "worth."

Sadly, you will likely not get anywhere close to the retail value for the army as a whole (or even if you sell it off in lots). Most of the armies I've watched on ebay go for about $250-$500 for approximately 2K points worth, but thats purely annectodal. You will likely not get anywhere close to $1500.
Another problem you will run into is the lack of demand for the Sisters. A weak codex with minimal tournament presence and likely with no future support, makes the army only valuable to true collectors, and those typically aren't the ones that buy fully painted armies on ebay. Your best bet if you are trying to recoup your money is to sell it piece by piece, but that is a lot of work, so it really just depends on how badly you want the money.
