Codex Space Marine came out in late 2013, so ~2018-ish for the next one?

Who knows. Maybe Games Workshop will release it in a year because of the new edition. Maybe it will be a long time.

They seem to be in a "Release as many books as we can" phase.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Well orks should be soon, the DE codex isn't that old though so that's a while away as there are older dexes that need updating such as SW, BA, Necrons are not that old but are still strong so I don't see them getting done soon either.

Orks have been 'soon' for years, but i expect they will be along soon enough.

The gap between the original DE codex and the current one was stoopid long though, which was my point. Orks have been waiting 8 years so far between update so far.

I'm not agitating for a DE update just yet, but there was a point where i would pull out my DE and be told that they were not GW models, and that my codex was fake because the pictures in it didn't show the current GW models. I actually played folk who were born since it's release.

The new codex could use a buffing up and 6th-ifying for warlord traits etc, but it'll work fine for now,

There has been a lot of mixed feeling for a new SW codex because of some model costs, like our Long fangs, I feel what ever they give to us will also have mixed reviews.

Gotta love having an army full of minis that are older than your opponents. I used to get that issue all the time with my chaos armies and especially my genestealer cult when I would run it as a counts as IG army or something. Some of these kids had never seen a genestealer hybrid before. hahahaha...

New codecies always have mixed reviews because not everyone wants the same things. Some people want a decent internally balanced codex where all units have a decent value and usability expectation. Others want the mega overpowered wishlisted from heck codex of doom. What we've been getting of late is books light on the wishlist items and also full of units that have costs that make them poor choices when compared to other units in the same codex. Space wovlves will be no different, except there is also a contingent screaming for the nerf hammer to hit them in a painful way, so there will be 3 groups complaining about it when it is finally released instead of the usual 2.

Am I being punked?

I play so many damn armies I cannot have an allegiance. The only side is my side.

Unless you're playing Space Wolves Grey Knights or Blood Angels the codex is updated. If you're playing one of those three, they're 5th ed books which are on the block to be updated eventually.

You joking with me? There was just a new one.

It was made less than a year ago. Among other new stuff, the most notable and controversial were the Centurions. Some said they looked silly crap and weren't good for much, and others said that they were cool looking and great at specialized roles.

BA were updated in the same year as DE...just months prior, if I'm not mistaken.

Does anyone think the SM codex has any glaring flaws that need to be addressed/fixed in the next dex?

I for one am thoroughly happy with it.

Except for Scout Bikers, maybe. Nobody takes them. Also its funny how GW only has 1 metal model/pose for them.

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.
