I am just going to sit back and wait for it to all die down, then get a rulebook off Ebay for about 50 bucks within the next month or so.
As far as the FAQ update thing is concerned I am really wondering how Chaos will get FAQ'd/Errata'd. If its true and their new dex is less than 2 months away would it make sense for them to update the errata on the website and then turn around and publish it in a giant $40 codex?

Yes. It only matters if the firing model is in range of the closest enemy model at the time you declare shooting.
That looks to have changed. Based on what I have seen you can only wound models in-sight and in range. This means Rhino blocking of special weapons is back, and you may not always be able to kill every one in a big foot blob do to not all being in0sight and in range.

Yes, but that only applies when you declare the actual shooting. You can only hurt models you can see now, but once the shooting's been declared, what can and can't be hurt doesn't change as models are removed.

The way I read it you can hurt models whom are out of range (as long as one of them started the wound pool in range), though models out of line of sight are safe.

@Reivax26 You are in the US, you can get the book for 50 (plus some changes) now. I don't see why you would wait and get a book that could have been through dirty hands and toilet.

Where can we get it for $50?
My LFGS has it for $75 in 12 hours, I get 10% back only because I have a preffered card.

So I ordered the Gamer's Edition from the US site pretty much as soon as it was available (give or take 15 minutes), and I have a US shipping address to keep things nice and domestic.
I get a shipping notification with tracking, but no mention of who it's tracked through.
Trial & error indicates that it's through FedEx.
Estimated deliver date is July 7th.
Thanks, GW.

That's how GW does pre-orders now, has been for a while. They usually don't ship out until the day of release, so if you were expecting to get it early (or just on the day) then you're out of luck.

delays...ugh....going to go to my GW tomorrow to pick mine up. Tracking shows it arrived today (gamer's)...hope it's all there though. If not, I want a belt...lol.
I guess the sheer volume of orders staggering GW's supply/shipping abilities speaks to the fact, at least, that all of the haters who were bailing from GW supposedly in the minority, so that's good I guess.
I'm excited about the new edition, sounds like I'll need to play 10-20 games and maybe buy some IG to team up with my SW's to make it all work, but hey....go 40k!

Just wondering if someone who has the actual rulebook can confirm that the supposedly 'leaked' file that was doing the rounds some time ago was actually a version of the 6th Edition book?
I assume it was still in playtest mode at that stage so there are probably a few differences between it and the finished product.

Just finished our first game of 6th. Played for 8 hours straight after receiving the books and having 5 people pour over it.
We played ork+broadside backup vs IG with flyers and some SW support. Vehicles didnt explode left and right, I actually think 3 hull points are fine for a Rhino. We didnt push the ally system that much, just taking some CC help for IG and some ranged help for Ork, so it worked smoothly enough and didnt dominate the game, but we still think it has the potential to go overboard. But lets give it a year before we really judge it.
the game plays really smooth. A LOT more intuitive in a lot of places, and much more cinematic in others. Really liked challenges, LOVE the new wound allocation and generally we really enjiyed a lot of the new facets like throwing grenades and jumping out of buildings was a really good time, and has a lot of potential in the competitive scene due to the new emphazis on movement.
Cheers

lol what's the jury on pancake anyway? I think there's a few denialists around who have been playing pancake for a few months who want to believe that it was somewhat implicit in 6th in order to feel vindicated. Was it even an official prototype?

Don´t know the price there but here in Japan the rulebook is being sold at 10.100 yen (over 100€) while in Spain retails at 60€ IIRC. GW can kiss my money goodbye.

Doubt it, the game has been artificially set up so that assault armies have to withstand 3!!!! rounds of shooting before they can assault, and that is a best case scenario (save some exceptions). I see necrons dominating this edition real hard.
Are you counting the 6s to hit volley as a round of shooting?
Though I agree that Necrons look to be damn frightening now. Funny after that was one Ward book that was roundly praised as being solid and powerful without being over the top.
No psychers. That by itself should keep things somewhat in check. However, from what little of the new rules I've read, a lot of the weird stuff ward did in the 'cron dex suddenly makes sense. Deathmarks are friggin scary now, for example, and big blocks of warriors have suddenly become something to fear...especially if protected by a cryptek of transmog packing a tremorstave and a crucible.
