I wont get one for sure. It might be a ok addition if you are planning to purchase big but the miniature by itself doesn´t worth it for me.

Yeah, the sword kills the model for me. I know you could modify it but seriously, who thought that was a good idea? (Like I had an extra $100 bones lying around anyways)

I'm not from the "olden days" so it doesn't appeal to me.

Nyet. I already have enough SM captains, and they all look much better than this one.

Now, if they gave him a helmet, got rid of the sword and replaced the Stormbolter with a regular bolter/combi-bolter maybe we'd talk.

I think that the skulls on the sheath of his sword look alright.

I'll be ordering some more Sisters before the offer ends so I'll end up with one.

I rather like him, in an odd way. He looks like some stuffy senior officer who spends all his time behind the lines and overcompensates by putting skulls on every inch of his under used wargear. If I ever get around to some Space Marines I'll make him my company commander and call him Captain Melchett.

I like the retro-looking model too. Clearly a nice plastic modern revision of a classic model once done in lead more than 20 years ago. I'm still undecided as to whether I'm getting one or not, but definitely considering it. Oh, and nice Blackadder reference with the Melchett name.

Nope. In fact, I'll be shortly offloading my space marine collection - no space marines allowed in this household anymore, unless they're Chaos.

The sword is a tad long, kinda hard to walk around with that thing the way it is.

Summary: I wont say no but he is not all that special and I would convert him immediately.

It's a Caplain! No I'm not paying 25% more just to get a $10 model for free. Silly GW.

I could spend £60 on the gw site or save myself £13 for the same amount of stuff.

I love the model, but don't have Space Marines so have no need for it. If I end up getting it, it will be purely accidental, and it will be immediately Ebayed

I'm unsure... I can't justify spending £60 just to get him, but I am considering picking one up on eBay if the opportunity arises. But the cape skulls are lame. Very very VERY lame.

Even though I plan to buy a Warriors of Chaos Battle box, my FLGS does 20% off. And I can't justify paying that much extra for a model I'll never use.

Looks really cool, but I won't be getting it. It isn't kitted out with a configuration I use, and I have enough Space Marine HQs to last me 'til doomsday.

I am put off by the fact he is as per GW policy a smurf.

All those skulls would have looked great as a Blood Angel...

I know you can paint him however you want but it doesn't seem the best colour scheme to make him stand out to me.

So I ordered some stuff I would have bought at my local store anyway in order to get the additional free model. If you're going to spend the money anyway you might as well get the free model. Now I'm not so sure about buying the other limited edition captain model for $30 after getting the free one, especially since I'm swimming in captains, many of them limited edition.

As for comments about the skulls on the sword scabbard, that's a callback to the classic original lead alloy Space Marine Terminator Captain, the one that came in the box of 8 Terminators during Rogue Trader era and early 2nd Edition 40K. I have that set, though I've yet to paint that model. Here's a pic of it from someone else's collection:
