That being said have been looking around on here at tactica, army lists ect. and the general concensous is that Salamanders and Space Wolves are the most competitive build to go. That being said I think I have found a way to build a very competitive list utilizing both so please let me know what you guys think!

Omitting Vulkan nothin is on your table edge if you go second. If your facing an army with fast movers like white scar rhinos/bikes or ravenwing. Or heck another ds heavy force, your match will be measured in seconds. On top of that your only long range is the gunship. Also you can only drop 2 pods a turn (meaning the most you will get to drop is 8 (turn four all reserves are auto fielded).

Think about these things and come up with some adjustments you think would be appropriate

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

...what?

He will have 4 Pods land on turn one, then the rest come in if they are rolled in successful (up to all of them). And speed doesn't mean too much to Pod armies - they come in and get the first shots generally. I would be more worried about Interceptor (Tau, specifically). The gunship is most likely for anti-air, which I would recommend the Skyhammer, not so much for long-range support specifically.

As for the list, you could stand to re-jigger some stuff for gear options, but overall, I think that is preference. I am a big fan of Pedro over Vulkan, but that is just my taste when it comes to Pods, especially since scoring Sternguard are kind of nasty. I do love the Wolves for the Rune Priests. I would think maybe trimming here and there to fit in another Stormtalon, if that is even an option or needed in your area.

Uh.... ionusx, you don't know how drop pods work me thinks... Drop pod assault says that half the drop pods hit turn one.

That being said, TC I'd put Vulkan with one of those units and I'd get rid of the storm talon. Only one/two unit(s) on the board turn one is asking to have it wiped out.

OK, a tip on how to run special weapons is "keep them the same type" so if you want an anti infantry squad, take flamer/combi flamer/heavy bolter, want anti tank take melta/multi melta/combi melta. Note on the turn you come in from DS you have to snap shot heavy weapons.

So only changes I would make are make the sternguard all combi meltas, their special issue ammo is much better then some flamers, so go for turn 1 killing all tanks/MC then after that the bolters can get the rest.

Also as been noted pedro kantor is fantastic when taking sternguard, and lastly the GH squads can be dropped to minimum to allow points elsewhere.

PS: If you choose to, drop all tact squads to min size, take melta/combi melta, and repeat 6 times all in pods, will give a total of 8 scoring or 9 with kantor.
