I'm looking to start making an army of Necrons (just getting into WH40K, first army.) and I was hoping to go for something similar to "galaxy paint" as seen on some sports cars and occasional articles of clothing.

Looking to paint them mostly black with a those white flecks to give them the look of being made out of space itself

Could any of you point me towards a tutorial or make a tutorial explaining how i could achieve this effect? It would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

It'd be difficult to paint the star constellations on 28mm scale models... but I'd try (on some old test models!) a base coat of black, followed by airbrushed feathered layers of colour (for the galaxies main body - the shoes have layers of blues, whites and purples) and then a 'toothbrush spattering' of gently thinned white for your stars. Cutting bristles out of the toothbrush first could help control the spattering. Afterwards, take time and effort to brush on featured stars for maximum effect.

I'm sure there are other methods, but this is one I'd myself try out first.

This sounds like the best way to go about it. Thanks! And I don't know if I'm going to go with any of the purple/blues. I was thinking of going with just a glossy black + stars.

Give it a go. In my mind's eye, you may find yourself thinking it a little stark and maybe not the effect you were going for - keeping it black and white that is. That said, it's what works for you.

Would love to see your results!
