In memory of one of my favourite artists. RIP HR Giger.
Hehe, wrote a term paper on him last year. One of my all time favorite artists as well. His conceptual work on the original Dune series was amazing.
Yeah, that would have made a awesome film (although perhaps without the worms giving blowjobs to giant penises ). I really like his Biomechanical work and the New York landscapes. Just the level of detail is incredible. And then trying to recreate that, in-scale, on my tank, really gave me a whole new respect for his work.
I find Giger and Lovecraft to be a bit of an influence on my own art as well. I REALLY like that dozer blade.
Thanks. That is one of two dozers I made that will fit the tank (I still need to finish the other one). They were quite difficult scratch-builds.
Also, here is an overview shot of my current project. All conversions, though half a dozen are just simple weapon swaps. Click and zoom for a better view.
Good work, I have had a peek at the early stages of your blog a while ago. Good use of parts from other races/models.
Werd, thanks man! I'm hoping to have everything tidied up (minus bases) on this batch pretty soon. The converting is far more enjoyable than the painting, at least for me.

I just finished this largely scratch-built Navigator mounted on a walking life-support throne:
The head is entirely sculpted. You can see more shots and lots of process (as well as the rest of the Navigator Household in my P&M thread. The giant head project starts on page 5: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/120/584689.page

Ok, those are pretty excellent.
Are they for a re-skinned IG army?

Please steal the idea! Rip and run, bruh!
The core of the bike was made with the two arms off The Cthonian model from the Sedition Wars boxed set, and frankly at $30 I think the box was worth it just for this one conversion (plus you get like 50 pretty decent mini's if you don't mind cleaning up some tough casting flash). One arm was flipped upside down, then they were pinned together. The engine section is an unmodified jetpack from the Chaos Raptors sprue. The rider is mostly Raptor parts, but uses the legs (modified with Raptor toes) from that stupid looking plastic Space Marine trike kit. The handlebars were also sourced from the trike kit. Rat jaws were sourced from this rat I found when "reclaiming" an empty lot in the West Oakland ghetto. Lot was converted to a garden, the bones (along with a cat skeleton) were soaked, stripped, and bleached by hand.
I really wish I'd put the "face" shoulder pad on the arm holding the force sword, but plastic cement has already set and not sure I can safely pull the pads off. :/
Here's the last one I did before buying a pin vise. Possessed Terminator Lord using the Termie Lord kit, Reaper Bones Giant Spider, parts from a Tyranid Gargoyle sprue, and bits from a resin Hive Tyrant & plastic Carnifex. It was a lot of fun to build. One of these days I'll get around to finishing the paint, maybe even try to make a base for it. I have mixed feelings about it, if I'd pinned the model it could have had a way more dynamic pose. I'm not the worlds hottest painter, but I really enjoy making monsters.

It is just a case of taking one of the old plastic Squats, gluing the head to the body and the body to the base. I then sculpt on a suitable beard/hat (if required) and drill/pin some brass wire on for arms. If I can find the sort of hands I want to use in plastic, then I'll pin them to the ends of the wire and fill in the wire with more sculpting. Add weapons of choice .

The Squat with the dog has catachan arms (from the original plastic boxed set). The squat with the Hammer has a Squat hand, a converted Catachan hand and the gaps between the body and glove filled with green stuff and sculpted on. Each of the Squats will have a different combination of arm parts/sculpting, depending on the position I want them in. Many of the Squats I am working on will have fully sculpted arms.
The dog is from Mantic Games .

My mutant Sarpedon of the Soul Drinkers. Legs are tyranid pieces that I made one drunken late night. Used the DV librarian because that's what I used for the non mutant version of him. Staff is from the chaos terminator sorcerer with an eagle in place on top. Ran him for the first time with "counts as" having a jet pack with my vanguard vets. Rolled 1s the first two turns when rolling for deep strike. Then I came in and scattered in a bad spot, then wiped out before I got to use him.
