Subject: Dark Angels Colors Question (Mistake!

Death-Dealing Dark Angels Devastator
|
Greetings,
I've recently started collecting 40k, (Played fantasy for a long time)...
It appears I've made a terrible fluff mistake and painted my dark angels incorrectly.
I think I painted angels of redemption colors thinking they were DA colors, but I'm thinking now (After sifting through the codex regiments section) that they're not even DAs.
I've never painted 40k minatures, so I just wanted to know if there's any non major fix (like painting a single knee cap) to fix this.
Thanks,
(ignore the banner it was a terrible attempt at freehand)

Yeah those are Angels of Redemption.. not really much you can do to change that other than painting the bone half green, but I wouldn't do that since you've done a great job on them. Is there a major reason you need them to be 'proper' Dark Angels instead of Angels of Redemption? (being in mind the AoR are an Unforgiven Chapter and should be fielded using the Dark Angels rules)

Yeah, they're Angels of Redemption... but they are a DA successor chapter, so you would typically use the same rules. Page 16 of the DA Codex explains the successor chapters.
If you like the look, I'd just leave them as is. I'd only bother changing if you don't like the appearance of the Angels of Redemption.

I Don't dislike the scheme-- I picked them because I loved the color scheme. I don't totally understand the fluff, but if you say they're okay, than I'm content with that.
Thanks.

It is definitely the normal procedure to use the main Chapter's rules to play a successor founding. Even more so with the Dark Angels who seem to maintain closer ties to their offshoots than most Chapters.

Those are awesome.
Also doesn't matter what name they are, they are still Dark Angles. A rose name any other would still smell as sweet.
Also remember, Dark Angles is not a chapter, but a Legion. They just "claim" to be chapter so the Inquisition leaves them alone, since there is suppose to be no Legions anymore.
Azreal can go to any "chapter" and requisition them to do his bidding. If that is not Legionesque, I don't know what is. Some people will say this is not true, but to me they are still a Legion.
If anything semi pseudo Legion.
So yeah, keep that schem, it's different, and it's freaking AWESOME.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Lorewise running Angels of Redemption instead of Dark Angels doesn't actually mean a lot; the Dark Angels and their successors are all bound together by knowledge of their terrible secret and tend to communicate/coordinate significantly more than most Space Marine Chapters descended from a single Legion so they've got a more monolithic culture than most.
The paint scheme looks great; I wouldn't suggest you change a thing.

Seeing as the chapters derived from them are highly linked at highest levels with dark angels at the top to a degree, nicely painted marines too, don't,t change em, the fluff works just say there one of the dark angels successors and got deployed along side due to there nature

Don't change a thing, they look great! As has already been said, they're a Dark Angels' successor chapter so you're all set. If anything they're a little more interesting because of your paint scheme.

You could run them as veterans in your DA army, or even paint up another tac squad as another successor chapter and have your army depicted as a call to arms by a DA captain and has brought in other marines to his force?

Exactly! I always think it's cool that people play Successor chapters, makes them stand out and shows some dedication to the lore. In retrospect, I slightly regret that I didn't paint my DA as Disciples of Caliban or some other Unforgiven.
