Wanted to gauge who will and won't be buying the new book. Assuming it's a brand new release and not just gw smashing existing books togeather (possibly with some small changes).
Me personally; I am not going to be. I am currently in the hole collectively $500 that needs to be paid off before the end of June. I can make that agreement right now and still put food on my table and pay my bills and rent. I'm prioritizing out of necessity.
On top of that I bought dv not more than 1.5 months ago. I feel cheated having bought into the game and I haven't even had a game yet beyond the demo I played at home alone in my apartment.
If I do it will be on eBay, and only after June.
If it turns out to be just books glued togeather, I'll skip entirely.

Too early to tell. If it's amazing and fixes everything we want and adds a bunch more great stuff, sure. It's doubtful however, so I voted no.

Assuming its a new addition? It'll be another sideways step for them, like most of their codexes have been lately. It'll fix some stuff, make other stuff worse and then make arbitrary changes that will leave you scratching your head.

Hooping iPad version will be updated. If so then will buy DVD again and then and only then if all is well will I get the brb.
So it's a wait and see.
Edit forgot to say if there is no FAQ to use the I basically quit. Why pay $100+ for rules when in then less than a year you will need more to play or will be redone again in a year or two.

Yes, but not immediately. I'm still using the DV rulebook and have ignored the expansions. So if there is a new BRB I'll pick it up at some point, but certainly not a day one purchase.

No. If it is all the rules put in one book I certainly will not be getting it. If it is a new edition I will try to convince my gaming group not to "upgrade". If they do I will switch to a different system entirely as there are a few games people are looking to try... this might give them a boost in that direction

Depends. If it's just 6th + all expansions, then nah, not worth it. Only using the small one anyway as the big one is full with boring, uninteresting fluff stuff (read: non-Necron) and the scenarios are worthless too. The expansions can be reduced to so few pages that they weren't worth buying yet - with Escalation, e.g., I just printed the general rules and the rules for the Transcendent C'Tan. Everything else in the entire book is completely worthless to me, so I would never buy the book.

I will buy the next small rulebook GW puts out. If they do a standalone hardcover one, I’ll grab that. If they put one in a new starter box, I’ll get the box if the contents appeal to me (or I can quickly flip them to someone I know) Barring that, I’ll e-bay to get a copy.
I’m sick of dragging around the giant tome that is the 6th ed book. I’ve been putting off picking up a small book due to these rumors. Once they drop, we’ll check the formats and go from there.

What rule set? Oh if you don't agree just roll a D6. Instead of 500+ that can just be done to a small leaflet. "roll a D6, highest roll wins, if a tie, re-roll, only once and then take the result. Highest roll wins, tie means a tie."

If its the same thing as 6th with the other books rolled in no because I already have 6th. I will be glad that Escalation and Stronghold Assault are no longer considered "optional" anymore.
My FLGS has a bunch of netlist/tournament players. I would love to just drop my ArmorCast Revenant on them whenever I please.

Why pay those exorbitant prices when a) you can print the PDF for free (supposedly) and b) it'll be available via torrent the same week it's released anyway? I don't do torrents, but i do take advantage of free options when they are offered legit. Seriously if the price really is $100 then count me out to buy it.

Most definitely. $100 is price gouging. I'll go without the new rulebook if that's the case and wait for them to release the new mini book and pick it up off e-bay for 1/4 of the cost.

I'll wait and see what the options are before I finalzie it, but as I don't have escalation and stronghold assault, this may be a reasonably decent value to me anyway depending on price

Actually, I think, he is referring to is the rumor that the new book will be a revision rather than an actual new edition, and that GW will release a sort of FAQ for the people who already had the current sixth edition rules which would give them all of the changes. Its not likely to happen admittedly, but people can hope.

Given the rumours are saying it's going to be 6th, with Escalation and Stronghold Assault (partially) built in, plus FAQs added, there's no reason to buy it. We don't play Stronghold Assault or Escalation, and from the sounds of it, we'd need to buy those anyway if we did because not everything will be brought into the rulebook.
Plus, 3rd edition Infinity is releasing soon, so I'd rather save some pennies to put into that game.

Lol if the book is just 6th with escalation and stronghold assault rolled in you are forced to play by those rules. If someone wants to drop a lord of war then the only option you have is not playing that person but you can't prohibit them anymore by saying "Thats an expansion and so I have to agree to play it before you can use those rules". From then on denying someone their LoW is like denying someone playing white scars bike army, or necron flying circus, or FMC Chaos Daemons, or triptide, or seerstar, or wraithstar, or screamerstar, or farsight bomb. I think it will be good to teach those tournament players and netlists a good lesson seeing as how LoW and D weapons completely nukes deathstar units.

yeah, I think Gw's been fairly clear that they want super heavies to be part of the game plan from now on.
I'm wondering if it's because GW knows that to expand some armies in a meaningful way now will almost require super heavies.
Bring em in with 6th edition, and when they finally begin 7th edition, fold em into codexes

Don't you need to agree to play something regardless of what rules are included? You do not sign a contract in blood when you get into 40k saying you have to play anything any time with anyone... you are not a chaos champion (yet another rule I don't like in 6th but I digress).
People are completely free to say "I don't want to play against that" or "I don't want to play that gametype". That doesn't make them a horrible human being... though it can certainly make you one if you go off on one about it...

Umm yeah, I'm pretty sure if GW include escalation and stronghold assault in the main rulebook it won't stop a lot of people from ignoring them and I'm pretty sure tournaments will continue to ignore them because they suck hairy dog balls for tournament play.
