So, the recent supernatural episode was a weird one. 20 min in an only one appearance of Sam and Dean. I look this up, thinking it might be a crossover. It isnt. It is a backdoor pilot for a spinoff, Supernatural, Bloodlines. Turns out the underground mafia of monsters is getting its own series now.
This is just wrong IMO, with so much they could have done. Could you Imagine something like a Garth Spinoff(before he went all Werewolf) or something else.

The atrocious writing didn't tip you off?

Dean hates shapeshifters. Has ever since one tried to frame him for murder. So of course he's willing to give one a shotgun, and then walk in front of him through a dark forest with no fear of being shot in the back!

Clearly, they made the writing so horrible to make the spin off appealing

I for one welcome a change from the continuous Angel vs Demons story arcs.

Yeah, I dont like that too, I think the show is better when it is just sam and dead hunting. That is why a garth spinoff would be awesome

Yeah, it would be interesting to see Garth's life as an ex-hunter turned Werewolf.

Could be about him hunting monsters in his area to try to stop Hunters coming to town and kill his new family, all while trying to deal with his own lycanthropy.
Throw in that Cult of Fenris, and you could have an interesting plot.

Speaking of Norse Gods, does it bother anyone else how they totally Worfed the Allfather?
I mean, they introduce Odin, friggen Lord of Valhalla, and have Lucifer instantly splatter him with a lazy wave in the same episode.
That really bothers me.

Isnt it said that the power of gods is directly tied to worshippers?

More than those who worship Lucifer, iirc.
There is supposed to be a small neo-norse religion going around. I could be wrong though.

There's also the fact that Norse mythology is still pretty prevalent in modern pop culture.
It would be pretty interesting to see them make an episode about how Thor is still going strong because of Marvel

I think this is it

Well, I could argue that not many believe in Odin or Thor as actual beings, but many do believe in Lucifer and God so it could be that believing they are real could have something. Or that all "Christianity" is kinda connected among believers.

Probably the worst episode of the season just saying.

OR you know it could be about another hunter who is hunting down the creatures and basically the clean up crew when dealing with big monster problems. Except its a government supported group that deal with big groups of monsters, and it called First Encounter Assualt Recon... wait a second... That would be kind of cool not going to lie. A group of government funded guys that hunt down people with psychic abilities and ghosts. They could make it quite awesome.

Make the team militaristic, but make one of the guys a hunter who was given a secnd chance after he killed a vampire who was a senator.

That would be kind of awesome. More interesting and hopefully they can go back to being scary like the first and second season. Instead of melodrama with a main villain.

At its core Supernatural is about two brothers and their adventures. They should keep it that way. But after supernatural has ended the spin off should be the repercussions of what the brothers have done, as most likely a lot of unhappy ghosts and psychics have probably sprouted up.

Plus I was referencing a video game

I was thinking the same thing. You'd think that some echelon of the government would know about all this monster stuff. If a bunch of random country folk know about, then so would a super secret part of the FBI.
It would be funny if they revealed that the FBI knew about the Winchesters all along, and they just leave them alone because they know that they'll get the job done

Or BPRD...

You know, the whole "government team hunting the supernatural" idea isn't uncommon...still fun though.
Especially when it's like XCOM with lots of casualties

Here is another idea, Muslim and Christianity are the largest two religions, many scholars believe that they are the same god. Both believe that Angels exist.
angels power could be tied to gods. So because god is getting worshiped by two of the biggest religions of the world, Angels are boss mode.
Lucifer is an angel, He must ask permission to be in a vessel, maybe that is why he is so strong

Agreed It is so awesome when they kick ass, I mean the episodes with lucifier were quite awesome. Same with the season 5 and back. It was more about the characters and them hunting creatures. I mean there are great episodes where they make fun of themselves for having drama. I mean I have never seen two guys with so many problems outside of this.

Nocturne fun game But Fear was better (the first one).

Agreed I mean the FBI should probably know about it. Or some other portion of the military. It would be stupid if they didn't. Governments know alot of information and always check up on something stupid like there might be vampires or necromancy. I mean the Nazi's experimented in real life with the occult. If the nazi's have done that. Then you bet they would.

It would be cool to see an episode of them finding a testing faculty of super humans using black magic.

They did kill off Ganesh, along with a whole host of other gods. I'm holding to the opinion that those were just gods in Meat Suits though. I mean, if it takes special weapons to kill most gods, I can't imagine Lucifer (in a meat suit, mind you) stepping on someone's head will do the trick.

As to Garth, I was glad to see him taken out of the show honestly. At the very least, retired from supporting cast. I'm not a fan of the actor, and thought the character just didn't fit well in the Supernatural world. Better hunters have than Garth have certainly bit the dust.

Not sure how receptive I'll be to the spin-off. I don't care about either of those no-name one-off episode characters. Had you given me a Bobby + Rufus 'back in the day before the Winchesters' spin-off, I'd be all over that.

Oh yeah, the Nazi episode was also pretty fun.
Annoying how they just dropped it though; you'd think the Thule Society would want the Winchesters dead after they meddled with their plans.

If they do introduce a government funded Hunter organization, it will most likely have ties with the Men of Letters. The MoL did have deserters after all, so it's not unlikely that one would go to the US government in an attempt to help people by spreading the knowledge.

Yeah they do that a lot in this show. I hope this is the last season we see angels. *grumble* I really got tired of the whole angel thing. But it just keeps appearing over and over and over again

Indeed. The Men of Letters was perhaps the best recent addition to the series. Nothing like a good old secret society to stir things up a bit

And unlike the other recent additions, they didn't just drop them after 1 or 2 episodes.
Speaking of interesting concepts they just drop...
The Mother of Monsters arc pissed me off. They build her up as being a big deal, gave her 1 episode to do something awesome (the brain slug thing), and then killed her off after she got more than 5-10 minutes of screen time.
I was disappointed.

you have no IDea how pissed I was too. It was just... ugh. I don't even want to express how disappointed I was.

It's like having Lucifer walk off a cliff and dying in the first episode we see him.

The Men of Letters I agree were a great addition. I mean I hope they make it so the two of the winchesters just take a break and become men of letters and just take a break in the bunker.

Lucifer is/was an archangel, not a "god" so the whole worship thing never applied to him. The other "gods" in Supernatural were also shown to be afraid of him so I'm thinking he's more powerful than them.

Yeah, I wish they wouldn't kill off gods willy nilly. When it was misc forest gods or whatever sure, but named ones ought to be a big deal.

I'd have liked it after Castiel did his whole 'I'm God' deal he just kind of exploded from the energy - no Leviathans and all that garbage; but suddenly all the archangels and a good chunk of the heavenly host are dead or gone, and into that void step all the old gods who have been lurking for centuries. Paganism rises, the gods start gaining power again and Sam N Dean need to put a stop to em since most are at least pretty bad.

One of the things that got me with a Bloodlines is the upgrade of Shifters' ability. Used to be they had to shed their skin to do it and it took some time. It was a really big deal for that Prime Shifter who could just change at will. Now apparently any given Shifter can do it. The Werewolf was also in complete control of their powers it seemed. Meanwhile Sam and Dean are helping monsters hunt down a Hunter, and don't seem to have any problem with that. I think making it a back door pilot and including those two actually really weakened the episode and creates a bunch of plot holes.

I was quite relieved when I found out that episode was setting up for a spinoff rather than the next series, I still have hope that they'll eventually do a series on the Pagan gods.
