So I just got done reading "Knights of the Imperium" and I was wondering why most of the Imperial Knight houses are so against having ties to the Mechanicus? I would assume that having ties with Mars would be of great use to them, especially because they completely depend on such giant war machines. What is your take?

It's Black Library. Check your logic in at the door when entering it's halls.

Seriously, though, being on good terms with the Mechanicus is usually a good thing if you rely on mechanical devices. Since they, you know, make the stuff.

because replacing most of yourself with metal parts is yucky.

Because black library thought it'd make a better plot? The codex sort of paints the opposite picture with them liking the Ad Mech with some way closer.

Having good ties with the Mechanicus is ofc good. Being seen as a stooge for the TechPriests might not be.

Many Knight Houses are more than happy wtih their relationship with the Priests of Mars - including the biggest - House Raven

there are conflicting pieces of fluff.

On one hand, the mechanicus originally uplifted most of the knightly houses with their tech and continue to provide the only new suits, upgrades, and repairs.

On the other hand the mechanicus are very calculating and the concept of honor and chivary dont really fit into the machine mentality.

Remember that most of the knightly houses stayed loyal in the HH, while more than half of the mechanicus went traitor and the entire Legio Cybernetica.

Some are close, some are not.

At least according to the wiki after it updated with the knight codex information, many knight houses are on rather cold terms with the mechanicus because they highly value their independence.

Well I guess a Mechanicus adept/magos/janitor would probably enter a religious frenzy just seeing a knight titan. So I guess maybe they don't like being with people who value robots more then the people piloting them.
