Dedicated Transports are barely taken as it is with vehicles being so easy to kill, making them such easy first blood bait just hurt more and more.

What I propose is that Units chosen as dedicated transports can't give up first blood, although units that can be chosen as DTs but aren't currently DTs can (land raiders as an example).

This would mean that 35 point rhino's a little bit more enticing, because now instead of giving up a kill point in 100% of games, he only does so in 16% of games.

I've never liked that DT's were counted as separate units for any purpose.

I have a DE friend that eventually settled into a few builds that he likes, and they're fun to play against, but we've had to house rule that he can't play purge the alien, due to almost insta-losing. His army usually has 24-28 (!!!) kill points available at 2k, a large part of that being DT's. It's ludicrously weighted against him for no good reason. It's just dumb that people can play him with elite 10 unit or less lists, kill half his army while losing 95% of their own, and then win by a landslide.

The issue with this is you make the really powerful Dedicated Transports (Wave Serpents, Ghost Arks, Night Scythes, Valks in the Elysians rules) better. I don't think there's a quick and dirty solution to Rhinos and Raiders being bad in this day and age beyond using 4e Victory Points (a unit is worth its initial cost in VP, half that if it's below half strength/immobilized but not destroyed) and dropping First Blood entirely.

Dropping first blood would probably be a solid move.

^This.

Some armies are really good at alpha-strikes. First Blood just makes it worst. Hope it doesn´t make it to 7th.

I actually support this, getting first blood is almost the same as getting the first turn, which is just luck of dice. I think Victory points should be oriented towards skill and strategy, and rely less on the dice gods.
