Hey all.
Just finished reading The Lion story in the primarchs book and don't get the ending.
Who is the little dude with glowing eyes the lion is monologuing too?
Obviously the lion thinks Gulliman to be a traitor of sorts and is in it for his own ends but has the lion gone rogue or is he still loyal?
someone please explain!!

The guy with the glowing eyes is a Watcher in the Dark. They're mysterious creatures from Caliban who work with the Dark Angels. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Watchers_in_the_Dark
The reason The Lion suspects Guilliman has become a traitor is because communications are disrupted, he knows that Guilliman is gathering forces, but doesn't know why.

Have these watcher dudes been mentioned before? I have t read the two dark angles books for a while but don't recall them.
So is the lion going now to join Gulliman or make war with him? I assume he has the weapon from that planet and is going to use it against the night lords

I think it's continued in the Unremembered Empire (at least the part with Guilliman).

The Watchers have been in DA fluff for a long time, though they are usually ignored by the DA and they don't really appear in other HH books. The Lion will head to Macragge with the DA to see if Guilliman is still loyal and, if not, to destroy him.

Watchers have Models too.

One to carry Azraels Helmet, and each box of DW Knights has one to carry a relic.

DA generally ignore 'em, though. They carry stuff, but that's it

DA would know where their Primarch is, if they didn't ignore those who carry stuff..

The watchers are meant to be the 'good guys' warp creatures (that's what I got). They monitored and controlled chaos activity on Caliban.

Inquisition motto: 'They don't like it cause the emprah don't like it'

Inquisition logic: "Hundred thousand guardsmen in the area....... WHO CARES, COMMENCE EXTERMINATUS!!! the emperor shall know his own"

Inquisition excuse: "it is the emperors will"
or
"he/she was tainted by chaos"

the watchers are the little hooded figures that live on caliban. They are completely immortal and immune to all weaponry. they are currently holding lion in stasis inside of the rock.

Dem Inquisishun humies can't be trusted any further dan day can be thrown, which in dat one's case might be a bad example.

The most recent fluff is that he is 'fully healed' and awaiting need for him to return to help the Imperium. There are camps on what that is, some say the Emperor will call out to him psychically.

My vote is that he is waiting for Cypher to return the Lion's blade to him, so they can go out and arse kick the enemies of the Emperor together.

Yeah, the Lions in the bowels of Caliban, waiting for something. The Watchers do exactly that, watch him.

There is evidence (word-of-mouth account by one of the Fallen, under the knife) that the Lion was playing both sides in the Heresy. Take this as you will.

As to Cypher, every time I read about him he gets more loyal. Lokens background fluff has him reject becoming one of Malcadors operatives to stay in the shadows, loyal but forgotten.

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

Recent HH books seem to deny this, though.

Actually, if thats true, it explain the rest of the DA's obsession and secretiveness. If It's not a few heretic traitors, after all, but the primarch himself who is suspect, that changes everything.

Especially from an inquisitional standpoint.

What is the source on Cypher rejecting one of Malcador's agents? I'd love to read this.
