Hello, and welcome to my new P&M blog!

It’s time for me to dust off my modelling skills again – first year of Uni over, and I’ve now got a solid 3 months or so to burn - a luxury indeed - So I think a project should stave off the boredom!
Some of you may have seen my efforts in my previous Blog, which you can find here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/546884.page (feel free to necro )

Inspiration for this new project struck while I was reading the Shira Calpurnia omnibus, “Enforcer” by Matthew Farrer.
For anyone unfamiliar with the novels, they’re centred on the great Imperial institution of the Adeptus Arbites.

The exact quote that got me thinking related to the creation of a Senior Arbitor’s command squad:

“Select people need for your operations from day to day, Arbites, Judges, Chasteners, Garrison preachers, Tech adepts...”

Something in there tickled my innate retinue-building instinct, so I decided to set about making my own Arbites team.

My first model was more a proof of concept than anything, made with cast-offs from my Bitz box, which hasn’t had anything new added since the days of 5th edition (and with current GW prices, that’s unlikely to change!)
So, the availability of instantly useful kit was pretty limited – but here he is: (still WIP)

So, A quick rundown - the helmet is a shaved-down Imperial Guardsman's, with a simple GS visor, the legs I think are from a Fantasy empire cannon, and the Shield is a dreadnought sarcophagus frontpiece... the arms are a from a CSM and a Brettonian knight, while the gun is a SM scout shotgun, with an Ork shoota ammo drum.

Still need to fix his boots, so that's next on the list.

Thanks for looking in!

Looks promising.

I'm interested in how you're going to kitbash the rest of the retinue/gang.

Consider me subbed!

Looks very good, but I think the dreadnought shield is a bit small. You could buy some resin shields, zinge and anvil industries both sell them.

Thanks for the replies - Scrazza, I'm a fan of your work, although I've not got around to saying so before, I'm planning out the rest of the gang as I type - the aim is to get 10 models in the team, if all goes well.
And thanks, I-Bounty-hunt-the elderly (nice name by the way!), I agree the shield is a bit small, but I'm trying to do this on a shoestring budget - if I can find a very cheap alternative, I will use it

So, I've mostly been teaching my dear old mum to play minecraft today, but I did find some time to photograph the (Small) progress on the arbites I showed previously.
The changes are mostly to the boots, but also involved a new kneeguard, and a codpiece. Because it's difficult to yell imperial maxims when you've got a crotch full of buckshot. (not speaking from experience, thankfully )

Most of my efforts have instead been centred on this new one:

So, what do we have here? A female arbites, with shield and a bolt pistol, based on an old elder guardian - I'm much happier with her build, though the gun could get swapped out - fortunately, her smaller frame means the shield looks less puny than it does on the first chap (who is very tall!) I'm quite happy with how female she seems, though I might make a few changes to make it a little more obvious. With any luck, I can make it clear without having to resort to the old classic DD's.

Next up, I'm thinking of doing some preachers, and maybe something a bit... "Special"... We'll just have to wait and see

Nice conversions you have, Enforcers are very cool.
For the shields have you considered using Bretonian Men at arms shields?
(here you have them http://hoardobits.com/cgi/hob/shop.pl?cat1=Bits&cat2=Warhammer&cat3=-Bretonnia&cat4=%3EBR%20Men%20at%20Arms&page=&view=03232013-10-17)

I'll be following this post, I've liked your work

(Am I the only one who sees the [newest] Judge Dredd when looking the Enforcers?)

Death to the false Emperor, all hail Elak Sarda and his Stigmartus!

Thanks LLucken, I had considered the Brettonian shields, but unfortunately I've run out... If I can avoid buying stuff on this project I will, but I'm experimenting with GS'ing a similar style - thanks for the idea and link

And no, you're definitely not the only one, I'm pretty sure Judge Dredd must have been a key inspiration for the Arbites - GW used to steal a lot of ideas back in the day

Nice update on the boots.

Because of the picture angle I can't really see the proportions of Model/shield. Still Looking good though

And thanks for the kind words
