I use this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1677607.htm mainly as it was availible in Argos in stock, works perfectly fine and provides a large amount of light.

Letting my old Blog die till I got more pictures sorted, it will be back up next weekend.

But feel free to check out my pictures at:

Buy anything that suits decor, pocket and taste, the thing I'd recommend is to use a daylight bulb, makes a hell of a difference, as 'standard' bulbs have a lot more light in the yellow end of the spectrum, it always surprises me how different my minis can look at home on my desk and in the hall where my club plays.

I agree with Ghaz, Love my Ottlite. If I ever change it, it will be for another OttLite.

I use a pair of white light led lamps I got from ikea for about £10each.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I'm with Azrael - light quality is important, but that's mostly about the bulb. Anything from a cheap clip-on construction clamshell to a fancy swing-arm arrangement can work beautifully, if you stick a good (full spectrum/"daylight") bulb in it.

I'd advise against OttLites, personally. Not that they don't work well - I have one at work that I use for inspecting glazing and it gives plenty of bright, white light - they're just not worth the sticker price, IMO. There's not much to recommend them over much cheaper lamps with equivalent (and also cheaper) bulbs installed. It's all marketing, where creating the illusion of specialization lets you mark up the price for your targeted niche audience. The same goes for a number of hobby products, actually.

Joann Fabrics occasionally have a 40% off coupon which I used to pick up my first OttLite. I got my second OttLite sold 'as is' also from Joann Fabrics for $20. It had a busted magnifier attachment but it was well worth the $20
