After more than a decade, I'm finally starting to burn out on
40K. A recent trip to the
FLGS with SWMBO (She Who MUST Be Obeyed) and we watched a game of X-Wing.
SWMBO tells me I should play that game and take a break from
40K. Well...She MUST be obeyed.
So my first ship (after the starter set) is the YT1300 Falcon. Yet my inner Ork is too strong. I can make it better. Or at least different.
The Falcon fresh out of the box.
Splitting the cockpit to make cutting easier.
Cockpit and passage way removed.
FFG uses some pretty thick plastic.
Nose sections removed. This lets the cockpit nestle in the existing widened area.
After test fitting various locations for the cockpit I figured above the axis-plane looked best, Passageway section repurposed to creat a higher mounting point.
Cockpit mounted and the hole in the original location filled with plasticard section. I also reattached one of the nose pieces (previously cut off) to just below the cocpits current location.
Additional plan is to relocated the guns from the top/bottom of the hull and mount them on the sides. Not sure if I want to keep the radio dish off axis or relocate it to the top-center where the gun originally stood. Ship will then get a repaint using cobalt blue as the accent color.
As for the name...I was thinking "Pride of Hector."
