Stelek you seem to be very experienced! What do you think I should do? My situation is a bit dfiferent.. I have a Land Raider that is hogging up points, and I'm planning on getting a DP. My army count seems a tad bit low, but I don't know if I should get the 2 squads you mentioned (1ksons/noise) or get CSMs and have more men in my army.

The LR was only included because, well, you sound like you can't afford a whole lot.

In 5th, LR will be better than they are now (except against Eldar) but I will always run the Oblits.

Want vehicles? Run space marines. They have more options to do so, and running vehicles in a chaos army just weakens it because of the lack of other vehicles.

I just want to use my LR, and tactical wise to have the HQ (Kharn the Betrayer) + 9 zerkers (hopefully champ with power fist) a good idea to move up with DP (they both move 12")?

Plus, I know I'll be outnumbered by all armies.. since the LR + 2 hqs take a lot of points to use.

In addittion, since you said you always run oblits for my army.. do you think 4 is a perfect amount? Or will 3 do the trick since I have the LR with twin LasCansx2?

I just want to have a decent army count. Do you think I should stick with your recommendation to use 1k sons & plagues? How do you feel about using CSMs with some weapon upgrades.

Chosen are like souped up loyalists. They get heavy weapons, plus icons, plus a little bit better wargear. But like any unit, don't mix and match. Determine if the squad will be ranged or melee and give out gear accordingly. Don't give a guy a heavy weapon if you're charging the squad down the middle. Common sense but my friend does it...

Chosen are elites but they are also cheaper than noise marines and 1k sons before kitting the unit out. But, they also come in fewer numbers per squad, and they're not fearless. Though with Ld 10 you have very little to worry about, but having a squad run away at the wrong time happens, a lot.

So, use if you have the models but are tight on points.

Noise marines, on the other hand, for 5 pts each (the cost of a normal loyalist marine) can be given a sonic blaster. That is basically like a bolter that can fire twice at 24" and it's an assault weapon. More expensive model to model but I would pick these over chosen simply for the move-and-fire aspect. Also, give one a Blastmaster and you just gave your men a good chance of taking down light/medium armor and a possibility of taking down land raiders and the like.

Thousand Sons, on the other hand, are a very good deal. For between the cost of Chosen and Noise Marines you can give a marine an AP3 bolter and a 4+ invul save ontop of his 3+ armor save. That's nothing to sneeze about. That's something to fear, in fact. The only blemish on these guys is that they're slow and purposeful and, no heavy weapons. If you're lucky with the dice and can over anti-tank else where, take these guys.

I do not have Emperor's Children in my codex.

Fast attack are generally good for two things. 1) early assault 2) constant harassment. I personally don't think you need them at this point. But it depends on what your opponents are playing. Fast attack is a wonderful thing to have against SAFH, my opinion but is playing right into the hands of assault armies. Though you can't go wrong with a squad of Raptors armed with melta bombs dropping behind isolated tanks
