Wow, very nice work. I particularly like the banner on the termie. How did work the shading on that?

For the Daemon you could try a blue similar to your lightning claws. With a little pink thrown in somewhere to keep the Slaanesh theme.

The blue will tie it with some of the colours in your army to keep it coherent. Maybe do just the tentacle pink and blend them together.

Great model btw, this army is going to look fantastic!

No updates for a while... Been real busy with end of school term/planning for next year.

Have painted terminators and captain/DA to about 90%

Have also found the skin tone I want with the DP, then he decided to break badly (pics).

changing my schedule as a result. Need as much done for the weekend as possible for friendly tourny.

FW berserkers group 1: Today, Tuesday, Thursday

Demon Prince : Friday

And hopefully a rhino as well... May also repaint a few things in new scheme.

Pics arn't great but show about where I am at. all models are unfinished and need touchups etc

1: Unpainted but made:

2: Semi painted but broken DP

First Test Berserker... WIP still but liking the colours.

Each one will have one section bone to fit in with the rest of the army. Some heads/arms/legs/chest etc

I like the concept on the berzker, and the inclusion of the blue is of course rocking. Pity about the DP but it really doesn't look too busted to me, just clearly free of its basing.

Power on to that tourny!

The Demon prince is shaping up nicely!
Is the loin cloth going to be in the same bone color as the marines shoulder pads? That would tie it nicely with the rest of the army.

Damn FORGEWORLD!!!

Every time I go to their site, they tempt me and make me spend lots of money.

Then, usually it takes far too long to come through.....

However, my schedule is totally on track and then the Khornate terminator upgrade sets come through after 1 week!!!

Decisions, decisions... I so want to paint them.

Probably going to do Bone body/main bits with red trim, helmets and shoulders.

Have struggled a bit to find motivation today... Manged to securely fix DP (Yay) but got distracted from painting (boo) so didn't get as much done as i'd like. However, by tomorrow I should have everything pretty much finished which leaves Friday to base everything/maybe paint a bit more!

Just a few things I have been working on today. Painting 3 things at once which helps a little.

The red armor plates on the demon prince are not working IMO. The red seems to be lost on the purple skin. It's giving the model coherency with the rest of the army, but I think it would look better with something else for example gold or steel.

Huh? The red armor plate and bone tunic are what tie it back to the rest of the army. Maybe just highlight the edges up to blood red for better definition?

@ Metsuri : Totally agree, they will be a different colour and the loincloth with script on will tie it to the rest of the army. Not sure what colour to do it though as there's no metallics on the model at the moment.

Generally, timing is ok... Rhinos are now pretty much done, DP isn't far off, zerkers drying. Not going to be able to swap flamers for plasmas I don't think:(

Khorne termies gonna have to sit this one out too... As is my dread (got a wicked model/idea for him now though!)

I for one like the armor plate on the DP, the proximity to the cloth makes the "red + bone" link clear enough. Before the plate was highlighted it did get lost for me as well but I think it's fine now.

Finally have a few ary shots of the stuff I've done on here.

This is no longer a GT log - my GT army will be no fun anyways so it's just a CSM blod now!

The army is looking pretty good together. I'm a real fool and always leave a few details on each model so nothing is 100% yet.

Also, the DP (who will only be going out on special occasions) is mid fix (his arm came off).

The Zerkers, DP and rhinos are the furthest from being finished.

Still got loads to do (including too many bases!) but got everything I need for the Saturday - Would like more stuff but probably wont get it!

That army looks sweet, coherent but the different elements are still bringing it nice flavor.

The demon prince with steel plates is much better IMO, you can make out the plates even in the topmost pic.

This has been an inspirational read, now go on and finish those figs.

The prince came out very well. Awesome army all round.

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated!

Having pretty much done everything I needed, I foolishly decided to repaint some raptors in the new colour scheme as well.

Pics to follow in the next few hours.

The rest of the army is gaming ready - there are more details to add at a later date like glowy eyes (may get these done but doubt it) ad pimping up the bases (my flock tub just fell over).

I like the Raptors, but if they're WB Raptors, maybe go with black/grey/metallic CCWs to match the BPs and WB Tactical Bolters?

Spoils of War - 2/3rd August!

Having got my army almost done for this friendly campaign weekend, I happily went down to the venue. This was a friendly, team based campaign weekend deciding the fate of an important planet. The players were split into teams of:

a: Girls (imperials)
b: Orks (more than any other team)
c: Baddies (chaos)
d: Gribblies (Xenos)

We needed to have 3 different lists for the weekend to play different sized games. Mine were as follows

Day one

Game1:
750(with some strange building rules - hence doesn't fit into FoC) - Loot counters

6 Berserkers in Rhino
6 Berserkers in Rhino
6 Berserkers in Rhino
6 Raptors
3 Bikes/2 Flamers

A nice and shooty list!

My first game was against a stunning genestealer ork cult. Each and every model was fully converted and beautifully painted. After 3 turns of movement, the zerkers counter charged and killed 35+ Orks in one turn. Revelling in their glory, they forgot about objectives and couldn't quite get there in time for the end of the game. Fortunately, purely by luck rather than skill, one of the ork contesting buggys wzas 3.5" out from my objective so I just managed a draw... Horray for me but unlucky for the ork guy as he really should've won.

Result: Lucky draw

Game 2:

1500 Points (standard FoC) - Vs Nids - Bases

List:
Lash Prince
4 Termies
8 Berskers, Rhino, ac w/ fist
10 CSM, 2 flamers, Fist
8 Plague marines, 2 plasmas
2 Oblits
8 havoks with 4 MLs
6 raptors - MoK, 2 Flamers

Considering I have only played 40k for about 4 months now, it was a little strange I had never played a 'Nid army. Having little understanding of how fast they are, I foolishly decided on table quarters which was my first mistake. My second was to ignore the warriors, my third was to miss an assault with my zerkers and get charged and my fourth was to shoot someone else when I wanted to counter charge with my termies. Needless to say, I got absolutely annihilated and lost my army to a man in turn 4...

On the plus side, my DP valiantly assaulted a combat Hive Tyrant and killed him before he could even hit back... Apart from that, it was a pretty dire game.

Must play nids more!

Result: Hideous loss

Game 3: 1500 points vs Mech Orks - Bases

Both of our armies were pretty resilient in this game and despite some high points, it was pretty much a draw all the way through. Really different army to what I have seen before...

Result: Draw

Round up

So, after 3 games I came away with 2 draws and a loss which wasn't particularly inspiring but it was good fun and the scenery/event was awesome...

Day 2

Feeling slightly disheartened by yesterday's performance, I decided to take my anger out on some imperial scum... ther were only two games today but they were both 2k so I got to take more fun stuff!

I decided to use a list that I had never, ever tried before but seemed fun.

Lash Prince
10 Berserkers, Fist (go in LR)
6 Berserkers, Rhino
6 Berserkers, Rhino
8 PMs, 2 Plas
8 PMs, 2 Plas
10 CSM, 2 Flamers, Fist, Rhino
2 Oblits
Landraider with DP
8 Havoks with 4 ML

Game one:2k vs Sisters - Loot counters

Sisters were another army I had never played before so I didn't really know how they worked. This was an exceptionally fun game with me getting so excited about a first turn berserker charge that I didn't see all the various flamers, tanks, etc nearby. The LR opened, the berserkers were unleashed but the sisters used their silly auto faith items and got a 3+ inv (which was kinda silly as thjey had a 3+ anyways!). I did 4 wounds and they ran off (yay!) but then everything shot at them and they all died (boo!).

Despite this, my hordes of troops eventually got there and took the game by the end of turn 5.

Great game vs great opponent... Faithpoints suck!!!!

Result: Glorious win for chaos

If you won a game at this campaign, you got to get a special ability card. I promptly sprinted over to get one and received a card where I could move any one of my opponent's units by 6" at the start of the turn.

Game three: 2k Vs Blood Ravens - loot counters

This was defintely the best game of the weekend. Right up until turn 6 it could go both ways. I started the game by moving his vindicator out of cover into plain sight which promptly lost its weapon (yay!) on the first turn. THe game was a gory mess and despite aboiut 20 LC shots, my LR remained unscathed.

The first 3 turns were manouvering about the get in to assault. This was all going very well when an SM pod landed with a venerable dreadnought in just behind my shooters.... Havoks (200 points) and CSM (235 points) and 4 plaguemarines (125 points) were quickly butchered. Next turn ad rounded to fire on him and immobilised him 3.5" away from the objective my remaining plague marines were guarding (muhahahahahaha). He was totally unkillable for the rest of the game but couldn't contest.

The rest of the game was extremely tense and ended with 3 glorious charges from the berserker units onto Tactical squads and assault marines guarding the objectives. 22 tooled up, assaulting berserkers are no fun at all to fight and they killed about 700 points in one turn.

By the end of turn five, we both had one objective and 2 more were possibly within 3" of my units - we didn't measure so it was fun at the end!

However, the game continued for another 2 turns and after turn 5, it was pretty much game over for the blood ravens.

Another great game with a similarly great opponent!

Result : Glorious win for chaos

The last game, however, was also a strategic table which meant I got double points for winning (yay!)

So, 5 games - 2 - 2 - 1 so not bad for my first event ever!

The fate of the planet

Sadly, the glory of chaos was forever tarnished as we came last due to some unlucky losses but it was a great game in the end!

Results were:

1: Orks (surprised?)
2: Xenos
3: Girly imperials
4: Chaos (boo!)

Despite our team not winning (boo!), somehow I got the most points on the chaos team and received a minor award (yay!).

All in all it was a great weekend which was really well ran and had great scenery tables everywhere.

Good going on the tourney when you had never faced nids or sisters. They are both nice armies with special things to look out for.

Now get all that inspiration from gaming into painting to get us some new things to google at.
