If the spine of your Perfect Bound book is coming away, the tactical application of a little PVA glue (which I imagine the majority of gamers will have knocking around somewhere) will soon sort out the problem. Just make sure you have a damp cloth to hand to clear up any excess, and bingo, for the sake of a few seconds effort, your book is as good as new.

Talking about imported goods, there was a long while when "Made In Japan" was a label to be laughed at. It identified the goods as cheap, badly made imitations of proper western produced items.
The Japanese buckled down, did their quality control and improved their design and manufacturing to the point where the Made In Japan label became a source of pride and an imprimatur of quality. (Sadly the Made In Britain label went the other way for several decades.)
The Chinese clearly do have a QA problem. It doesn't mean everything they make is rubbish.

Why is China-made stuff crap? Because it's made by people who don't care, partly just because it's not like they're ever going to hear about it if it's badly done, and partly because they're usually over-worked to the point that they just don't care any more, if they ever did in the first place. And those uncaring people are employees of people who don't care, because if their company does a crappy job, they don't have to worry about it because they're in another bleeding country, and even if the people who buy their stuff do care about the quality, they can sell it to them so cheaply that most businesses will just shut-up and take it anyway.
Yes, import goods are terrible. Thats why both my chevy and ford cards had to be scrapped. Because they were so vastly superior to anything made in asia. If you weren't so stuck up your own U.S. ass you could probably do a little bit of research and find that many, many, many quality things were produced in china. High end electronics (like five thousand dollar sony televisions)? China. High end appliances? China. You're Iphone? China. American made hasn't meant quality in years. We're a service and technology based economy now. About all we still produce en masse locally is metalwork and furniture.

I'm actually from Canada, where I don't have a chinese made TV, don't have an iPhone, largely because the majority of Chinese made electronics I've had have been crap. The majority of brands which are really good and not just vaguely good enough to get by with are still made in the U.S., like Zippo, Mag, and Pelican. Have you ever seen those imitation Zippos? They're not nearly as nice, much like the difference between Pelican cases and GW cases.

Yeah, i probably should have mentioned industrial equipment and vehicles under american made products also. It's really all the consumer markets we've lost, primarily in electronics, clothing, vehicles, and materials production (CD's, packages, cups, etc).
I wouldn't really say MAG is so massively superior to any asian produced (You really can't say produced in china) monitor or television. Especially considering the fact that according to their website specs they are pretty midrange when compared to pioneer, sony, samsung, LG, Apple, etc. All of which assemble their displays in china (Technically sharp and samsung actually make sonys displays then they get shipped to china for assembly then i believe back to japan for final packaging and shipping).
The globilization of market supply chains means that most products "made in china" were for the most part only partially produced there. Your average laptop is assembled in china with parts from two dozen other countries. I would guess that a large portion of the goods produced by the companies you have mentioned are getting individual parts from other (probably asian) countries.

I get all my Codexes from my local GW. They get their codexes in a box direct from GW Nottingham, who then....
Maybe ii is the delivery and storage method that matters. Nottingham will be a main distribution hub, so books sent there are probably well stored, or the delivery gets returned. Stuff sent to the shop comes in a small van, and so always arrives at room temperature, even on a cold day.
Now if you buy elsewhere and have to deal with regular postage, either to your home or to a small shop from the distribution centre then maybe your codex was stored outside of room temperature, bulk mail is often held in warehouses that are not temperatjure controlled. A book stored in a cold warehouse might look presentable for sale, but may be damaged. This might account for why some people get codex after codex that falls apart, wheras noone who buys at my local GW does.
I am yet to see a falling apart codex in or from my local store.

What ya think of the chinese army running factories where all the workers are convicts?? Or factory workers forced to live in dorms at factories like slaves?
Beleive what you want, chinese products are shoddy and have a high rate of chemical contamination.

Well in reference to the factory worker issue, we do that too. Convict labor isn't exactly uncommon. Involving the PLA could be construed as strange, but until I hear widespread reports of prisoner abuse (Which there probably are) by the PLA I'm inclined to think that its not so dissimilar than the private security guarding convict labor areas stateside.
As for the dorm slave labor, how about you site a source between random racist quips and belligerent idiocy? Thats far more common in taiwan or the nations of the golden triangle (Google it if you don't know what it is) but the chinese government stamps that kind of thing out every chance it gets.
Beleive what you want, chinese products are shoddy and have a high rate of chemical contamination.
 Yes, terrible quality.
Oh god the quality is so low.
Why in the world would anyone use these pieces of communist crap?
If you buy chinese milk you're a moron for buying foreign foodstuffs from a country on the other side of the planet. If you bought chinese toys and got one of the lead contaminated ones in the thousands of types imported your just unlucky. I'm no fan of the chinese government, it's a facist regime the same as any other. But I doubt you even understand what it is your talking about when you mention the quality of chinese goods. Read Thomas Friedmans book or really any other on globalized supply chains before climbing onto a soapbox you're probably too stupid to know how to get off of.
