Greenie are you just being difficult? We've already spelled out what Preferred Enemy does with armies that have the ability, but their codex doesn't specify a particular race. No where does it say "you must select a race", therefore their preferred enemy is anyone they are fighting that battle. To think otherwise is basically living in a fantasy land. If someone were to pull a stunt like this on me in the middle of a game I'd put their sports score into the cellar since they have no footing in their argument. Additionally, if a tournament organizer sprung this crap on me at the start of a tournament, I'd ask for my money back and leave.

Really? Interesting.

What tourney? When and where?

I'm curious to see if the TO would hold a similar ruling if he hosted a WFB tourney and a VC player showed up with the Forbidden Lore (I think) power.

It isn't a case of "apples to oranges."

It's a case of two rules with similar wording that do not specify a time frame for when a given specific benefit is granted. Neither one specifically states whether you have to choose your given benefit at list creation, before a game, before a tournament, or what. I mean, if you wanted to be completely restrictive, a TO could go so far as to say that the preferred enemy has to be selected during list generation, and that selection must be turned in to the TO with the list before the player even has a chance to see what other lists are in the field.

I'm just curious to see if there is consistency in the rulings. I mean, it would be silly to hold a 40K tourney where a preferred enemy had to be chosen at the beginning of the tourney, but then host a WFB tourney and allow the VC player to select a new Lore before each game.
