First off, I have to say I've never encountered this level of Richard hating before. I've never been called a cheater although people do swear that I sacrifice small animals to the dice gods on occasion.

I always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt and go with it's just something they don't know or forgot. I've been playing for a while so I have before and probably will again mix up rules from different editions.

People who aren't cheating will be more than happy to show you said rule in a rulebook. That to me is the first sign if someone is trying to pull something dodgy.

Correct movement and measurement is a pet peeve of mine and it always irritates me when people aren't precise. If I find someone doing it then I will let most of it go until it gets close and then I will ask them to pre-measure it before moving.

I always pick up misses and make sure my opponent sees the dice before I pick them up (if he looks like he's interested in the result) if someone does the quick "pick up" then I will ask for them to let me see the rolls, this is if I don't know them very well, after I've played someone a few times I stop caring and end up being more trusting.

I know that I sometimes miss that 3 or 4 or whatever and since I have multiple armies what I need to hit changes on a frequent basis.

If it's an older person that's cheating then you usually have to have someone pummel them into the ground a few times and show them that cheating doesn't get them anywhere. After this happens they usually calm down a bit. If it's a younger person, sometimes it's over enthusasim and can hopefully be handled on a one on one manner.

If it's in a tournament then it's a problem. At adepticon last year we had an entire team that was very care free with their movement. One of our players asked them to please be a little more precise in their movements and was told to "lighten up it's only a game dude, you will get marked down for sportsmanship with an attitude like that". It went downhill from there, I don't really know how you come back from that one.

My main point is booze and rabid gamers don't mix well. BTW charges were pressed and the guilty party were banned from playing there again.

What in the world does that have to do with the topic of conversation? Can't you at least once follow the topic without going on about nothing?

As for cheaters, it's best to call it when you see it. Stop the game, discuss why the person did that. It could be they simply misunderstood the rule. it could also be they don't think 1/2" is a big deal. Proper gameplay just might never have been taught to them.. Shoot, they could have played with their friends who didn't know the rules either..

I see no reason to break things, throw things, or otherwise, make a douche of oneself to prove a point to a cheater. Nip it in the Bud and move on.

edited for use of netspeak.. my apologies.
