Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Thing about living in the US, from what I have heard 100 miles, often more would be local.

To us over 10-15 miles is no longer local.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Hardly, just because the country is more expansive does not mean local is also expansive. I'd say local is 15-20 miles is local. To be honest, I don't consider it local, if I have to travel more than 15 mins..

I have seen the word "skull" written so many times, it now seems strange and devoid of all meaning. Like a word misspelled, not so badly you do not know what it is supposed to be, but enough that you are uncertain of the correct way.

Despite tearing a hole in my mental lexicon, this thread is very amusing

I read a report of a recent study which tracked mobile phone users by means of their movement into different cells of the network.

I don't recall the exact, figures, however the general thrust was that a large percentage of users do not often move more than 10 miles from their home.

At first this surprised me since we think we live in such a mobile society, however on reflection I realised that I live about 10 miles from where I work, and this has always been true ever since university days.

I suspect both facts are true, at least in the US. Where I grew up being 10 miles from anywhere was a neat trick, and driving 30-40 to get anywhere was standard, but where I live now driving more than 15 miles is "long".
I suppose the possibility of just hopping in the car and going makes for different incentives compared to having to get on a train or bus. Then again, not having to drive for all 100 miles sounds pretty appealing to me

I live in North Las Vegas, NV, the nearest GW is 300+ miles (LA Bunker if I remember right). I don't drive and live about 2 hours (or more) from any game stores (all 4 of the ones I have been in are very friendly and I would support in a minute if any were "local" ). Ironically, because of the way the buses and freeway run, the one furthest from me is the one I could get to the fastest.

**OT Alert**

And yet, Houston, with 3 Hobby Centers and half a dozen FLGS that support GW does not have a GT or Games Day.

Heard today that the price went up due to a high number of defective boards being produced.

Saw it for the first time yesterday in a FLGS in overland park, Kansas. I asked about it and the dude informed me while i was looking that unfortunately he'd already sold all of the pre-orders that the company would allow him too and that he wouldn't be able to get anymore in anytime soon. He informed me that from his information from GW that they just screwed up majorly on the shipping and doing business in the orient and got hosed and so raise the initial price. Take it worth a lick of salt but the guys runs a heck of a shop so maybe he does know what he's talking about

Oh, and on that note after seeing one i'd buy it in a heartbeat for $275 if the guy hadn't sold out already. But hopefully the table lormax is making for me will be better

I have to say it's nice to know I'm not alone in thinking that skulls have a very "junior high toughguy-wannabe" feeling about them. The odd one here or there would be okay, but plastering them all over everything? There are better ways to compensate for lack of style/texture.

Always remember that GW's primary target market is the 12-15 year old boy demographic.

got mine today, and it's fricking amazing!
it didn't have any covers for the skulls like I previously read (maybe they're missing? but I don't mind, they look good)

The shop had a scenery basing kit as well, and you get the equivalent of 15 packages of static grass in there, so that makes it worthwhile on it's own (13 packs of scorched grass, 2 glade grass)
the brush seemed nothing special, but everything else was top notch

I saw it yesterday at the local GW. Dont like the skulls at all. The rest is perfect. The skulls are... to many and meh.

It amazes me that GW hasn't created an army that flings poo and uses farts to travel.

LOL. Just wait for 6th edition, I think they are running out of ideas.

If you do not like the Skullz just cover them up. I might actually get one ... someday ... for a desert table. Creative, I know.

I'd love it if they release a sprue full of skulls from all the races, and I'm like, twice the age of that demographic.

I thought the same thing when I started playing at my current FLGS where they used painted plywood tables, as in the past I've always played on felt. That wooden sound still kind of bugs me to this day, but not as much as it used to.
