Ok, I redid the Terminators claws to look like they are always hot. Glowing in red, orange, yelow, white colors and highlighted the glow onto the lower half.

While the original idea was an antique gold, using a Tin Bitz and gold mix I'm not sure which to go with. SO I NEED YOUR HELP!

I'm liking how the glow makes his face and upper armor really contrast.. and I had fun doing it, and the other reason was when I started doing the rest of the armor pieces with the Antique look the claws were less special. So I'm deciding to keep all the armor trim black with select metal options.. skulls/chaos symbols, etc.

I think its clean and different.

but let me know what you think.

one question, how did you manage to make it like the red was glowing behind the insignias of the armor?

Bah, that candy corn remark is nonsense. Though I do want candy corn now...

Those claws look awesome. What truly shows them as red-hot glowing blades is the excellent lighting effect across the rest of the body. Just great.

was messing with a tyranid scheme before I head to bed.. 4:22am here.

I like the look of a bone exo with vibrant skin... so I was testing since this is the first tyranid I have ever painted heh.

I'm thinking for the troops of all the armies I'm doing.. It'll be groups of 4-5 in different schemes.

This will maximize my models so I'm not painting 5 the same just to show a scheme.. but rather 5 different schemes.

20% done.. still massive blending, detail work, base... also my tyranids will have saliva!!

Yeah thats what people said when I did a poll in the paint section. Funny how people tell you what they think is wrong and seldom have input on how to fix, or do it differently.

I figure if you do not have:

1. Better painting skills
2. a better vision on the project
3. Constructive input
4. a high post count and just posting here to get a +1

I'd rather not hear your opinion.

This WIP was set up for friends and customers to view projects. And if you're just passing through to look and have some constructive criticism, I'm open to that.

oh, i'm sorry. i didn't mean it like that. it was'nt meant to be mean, i was just pointing it out, as i was browsing the thread. sorry.

I've got a BIG problem with your thread, here, PAL!!!
You're hosting all your images offsite!

You know, you are just being unfair to those of us who surf Dakka from work. We're people, too, you know. WE deserve to be able to see your spectacular conversions and paint jobs, too.

But, Noooooo. You go and host off-site, where the images are blocked, instead of HERE on DAKKA.

It's ri-freaking-diculous, man! It's discrimination.

If we can't surf the internet PROPERLY from work, then what are we supposed to do with our day! cWe have to wait until we GET HOME to surf your thread.

Oh, the HUMANITY!!!!!

Think of the cubicle-monkeys, by God. Think of the cubicle-monkeys....

Plus, if you host your images on Dakka, they automatically go in the gallery, and we can all vote on 'em to show you how cool they are.

Nice work, man!

Eric

nice Eric lol! I'll keep that in mind and from now on I'll go through dakka to host my pix.

Now that you say that I wonder how many people came to read my thread and see what I'm working on from work and didn't comment because they couldn't see the images.

Good info dude thanx.

K, here's where I left off... but know THIS....

-Using this guy as a test model so I did NOT de-flash him.

now that the disclaimer is there.. I started this guy primed, then hit with Rustoleum (sp?) Texture paint.. not like the snake skin crap but its about twice as porous as primer. Painted several little parts BG metal and dry brushed the whole thing in Tin Bitz. I do this so I can see depth and details in the model I might not have seen during assembly and priming.

Then I played with the blood on his claws till it was time for bed (now).

More work tomorrow!

below is dakka "too small to see anything" pic compared to my past uber-awesomenesstastic pix. All Eric's fault.

Here's my stopping point for the night.

-Chaos DEFILER- more color detailing and first stage highlight blending.

-Tau Crisis Suit/ Fire warrior- couldn't find a scheme online I liked so I'm planning on a Regal Blue and Black scheme.. first steps done, base coated Regal Blue and dry brushed with Enchanted blue.

-Catachan Jungle Fighter- skin almost done, base coated everything else. spent the last hour of the night giving him blue eyes. NO MORE CAFFEINE lol!

Once you shop, you can't stop! Literally as it seems!

Looks like a nice mix of stuff you've got to paint there, look forward to seeing what you do with it!

The fibreoptic stuff is very cool, isn't it a total pain carefully drilling everything though? My pin vice seems to be possessed and go where it likes!

Cheers,

Mighty fine brushwork indeed.

Care to spill some detail on how you did the defiler's blood-spatter? I've often found minimal blood makes for a more natural look, but you've got a few gallons worth and it still looks ace.

I started with Scab Red for the dry blood effect. Then Red Gore for semi dry blood effect. Then a final detail of Blood Red for the fresh blood effect. And finally some Liquitex Gloss Varnish on select areas for the WET effect.

Added pix for people not using GamesWorkshop paints.

you will need:

Liquitex Gloss Varnish

Scab Red

Red Gore

more progress on my Fire Warrior. When I was playing with the blue, I decided to do a solid gradient for the scheme..

Regal Blue-dark
Ice Blue-light
mix both colors above 1:1 - med

50% complete.. need to do cloth area highlights, more gun detail, backpack, the little communication thingy on his head. (fluff guys are gonna kill me for calling it a "thingy" lol)

First time I've tried to do the jewel/lens effect for the eyes and the scope on the gun.. I just looked at the box and did the best I could heh.

Only a couple more layers of gloss varnish on the armor to smooth it out, and base work.
