Orks do have allot of class and variety. That's what I like about em. Even if they do get shot down easily by a wall of lasers. And when you manage to get into cc, the results are always worth it!

Tyranids - Mainly because I like aliens especially the mean bloodthirsty type. The models are for the most part fantastic, they are fun to play with and not too difficult to paint.

Units-

Broodlord and Genestealer Retinue - It sucks that they can not fleet but when they hit it is a mess! Infiltrate or outflank is a tough choice sometimes.

Genestealers - my other units love those that feeder tendrils special rule! Fleet and rending are not too shabby either

Hive Tyrant and Guard Retinue - The survivability of this unit is amazing and they can deal out some real punishment when equipped properly.

Hormagaunts - I prefer them to be loaded with upgrades. When taken in combination with stealers they make target priority for the enemy a tough call.

Lictors - Hard to support, fun to use but 2 wounds does not get you very far choose your target wisely!

Warriors - Great models still trying to figure out the best way to fit them into my lists.

Carnifex - Man do I love me a heavy Fex with a twin linked strangler, an extra wound, and toxin sacs (for instant death against T5 in CC)

Necrons

Ask me again when the new codex comes out.......

Over the years I've played a ton of different armies, but never seemed to get any of them into a 'finished' state.

Since I'm returning to the fold I play:

Tau : didn't want a horde army, and definitely not Space Marines either. I liked the grav-tank & battlesuit look, it was very sci-fi while not being the loads of skulls/ space elfs look, so they were distinctive. And as a young race with very little fluff, I've got frtee reign when it comes to background fictionand such as.

Over many breaks of testing armies (orks, eldar, tau) ive gone back to space marines, because who cant love a 3+ armour save, and when i was a kid they were just awesome looking etc..

1st army: SM. Mainly played as plain-jane vanilla SM.
Only last year, one of my fellow other hobbyists (fellow star wars costumer) dared me to make my SM chapter a 'clone' of our group.
2nd army: Eldar. Jes Goodwin's models, what more can I say. Started with pirates (Eldritch raiders), rogues and scoundrels, though, moving slowly to Craftworlders. Still play them 20 years later. Still have most of the models from then, too.
3rd army: Daemonhunters. Grey Knights and stormtroopers. Love the GK models.
4th army: Witch hunters. Started with the limited ed witchhunter puritan figure, then saw arbites were an option, and with a little work, my shotgun toting scouts were retasked. I use the stormtroopers from my DH and a handful of IG units - I actually don't like the SoB models.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Tau: because they're so different from the rest of 40K. No Harry Potter psykers mate, this is all technology and shooting- what modern warfare is supposed to be. I've also made some fanfiction for my cadre.

Exiled Cadres: Interesting unoffical codex that I've picked up and then found the author of. It's based on things like Farsight's envlave, but is more focused on similar exiled cadres so that it doesn't spoil the mystery of Farsight.

Orks: Because they're like the military wing of Scrapheap Callange (or Junkyeard Wars in the US); betting some boyz together with some shootas that they've brought with their own money and sticking it up to the Emporer with various war marchines you welded together or nicked.

I'd like to play as Hrud, but personally I think the two unoffical codexes that are online could do with some more work. I think the closest thing to their sneaky tunnely Vietkong style would be Impy Guard with light infantry and urban fighting.

40 psuedo rending. Remember they only become AP1, they do no extra damage and do not autowound things with high toughness

Because Tau have absolutely no connection to the Warp, they didn't even know it existed until recently.

I play Tyranids because they will win eventually, and I like being on the winning side. That and look on my opponent's face when I plunk down 200 models for a 1,750 pt. game is priceless. Generally, though, my 'Nids are now so massive that they have to wait for Apocalypse games. It's all or nothing, fellas!
CSM because I have the coolest home-brew fluff for a Chaos Lord.

CSM: Started Nurgle before the travesty of the new codex, but I loves me nurgly-goodness so bite the bullet and hopefully wait for the Legions codex.

IG: Was in the Army myself, and like to run mobs of grunts. Actually it was the Praetorian models that got me on the wagon.

SM: My secret shame. But they look cool and easy to paint since they are the Black Knights.

WH: Hey, chicks in power armor! Not so shameful. Plus always wanted to build and paint an Inquisitorial Stormtrooper unit w/ Rhino and FW doors. And scored one of those 'Desparado' Inquisitors (have an extra one, hint-hint) and had to give him a retinue and augement with IG or SM. So actually two WH armies.

I favor Eldar the most, and hate SM fluff the most.

for example:

"This world is ours witch"

"No... its theirs"

See??? stupid marines!

1st army: Space Marines because at the time everyone told me they were the best 'starter army'. Since the new codex I've found all sorts of uses for their special rules combat teams and combat tactics that, in my opinion actually puts a lot of tactical decision making back into the game, beyond just target priority.

2nd army: Orks, they were dirt cheap and my nephew wanted the marines from the AOBR set and I wanted a 5ed rulebook so we each got a box and traded. Now I have an army with so many cheap models that I don't feel an apprehension toward attempting conversion. Also, with their army's ramshackle appearance and goofy approach to weaponry you can put together just about ANYTHING and it'll look right in the army.

North of you!

In order of collecting:

Imperial Guard: I LOVE TANKS, when i played my first learner game (it was with tau) i was constantly wandering off to see an IG player with an armoured company playing a SM player... ever since then ive bee hooked

Witch Hunters: I originally got these guys because of me being abused by eldar psykers in like 4 straight games, since then I've been slowly building a good army, but they are usually allied to my IG

Dark Eldar: I got a battleforce of these guys on a whim......turned them into a small beer and pretzels army

Blood Angels: Got black reach and i really didn't like vanilla marines (and there expensive codex) so i decide with an army with more flavour, and assault capabilites; gotta have balance (2 shooty armys and 2 assaulty armies!)

My first army was Space Marines. Well, back when I was at 6th grade, Marines just looked awesome. And in this new Codex, they really are. Converting them is fun also.
My second 40k army are da Orks, mainly because AOBR had them on top of Marines. They are still a small army, but someday they will reach for stars and crush the Imperium!
I had my eye catched by Chaos Marines, Imperial Guards and Daemons. If I just would have enough money...
The bad thing about playing 40k is that your WHFB army lacks new figures when you buy only 40k...

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!
Dark Eldar: 1/0/0
