Ah blind grenades... when even GW thinks you're too much trouble, you're too much trouble.
NOTE - If you're too young to remember the 30 minute blind grenade phase, basically they were small blast templates that blocked LOS and if you ran through them you had to roll a scatter die or lose your sense of direction. they also drifted every turn.
Bah, you're exaggerating a bit. I made up a bunch of blind templates and printed the
d6 roll results right on the template. I could usually resolve all the blind on the table in a minute or two.
Regarding the issue, what's funny about the
DE release is how many units in the army book never had models released. In some cases (Scouts and Hydras, I think), older versions were available. In others (Executioners and Dark Riders,
IIRC) they just didn't exist. The models were sculpted, just never released to the public. They did put some Executioners up for sale at a
GD I attended, but they never made it into stores, etc. It wasn't unusual for there to be "gaps" in a model range in those days, but
DE were kind of ridiculous.
Great review, HBMC. Took me back. I also liked your mention of some of the Dakka old-timers. Although
IIRC, I think Drew was a lot more reactionary than
DD. I can still remember Drew going apoplectic with every new codex release, calling it the most broken thing ever,
LOL.
