I think its either a design flaw, or i some how missed something ( i checked and double checked though )

The tracks are attached to cylinder stuff right?
But the cylinders are only attached on ONE side.

Which means if i push the tracks on, they come off right away.

i thought that they went on both sides?
im yet to assemble one, but ive made atleast 30 russ's to date.
and im guessing the track set-up should be pretty much the same.

by the looks of it though, thats how it goes, seems kinda fethed up to me.

The track inside is also hollow, only supported by 3 very thin rods in the center , making the 2 large pieces move around alot.

It is safe to say, even if no one cares, those are not baneblades.

I see some issues here though;

1) You got some apocalypse items and no apocalypse rules so unless you get those, the stompa and stormlords are useless.
2) You got the AOBR set, which contains SM and Orks . This is all fine and good except for the fact that only IG use Baneblades, Stormlords, and huge tanks. SM use titans.

So either you have an IG army, and Apocalypse rules or apparently your cousin doesn't know the rules either. Again,I do think that it is safe to say that no one really cares what I say.

As to your problem with the tracks; if they are being difficult, just place the ones that you can see and don't worry about the ones under the track guards.

True. Only IG use baneblades (and the like).
Orks, however, DO loot them.

halo, her cousin must of known she was a genius though
anything can be converted.

no probs luna, if you need anymore help just get a few pics of the sections that are being annoying and i should be able to come up with some better ideas.

if its very delicate on the join then maybe a thin line of GS running through it aswell as glue?
should make it more stable and help it stay together while the glue bonds.

I'll convert you, you dirty son of a... octagon!

An epiphany though; if someone was being made fun of for not knowing the rule, wouldn't it be better to give them rulebooks and not more units that they don't know how to use?

Yes, yes, halo you suck and blahblahblah. You sound like my mother.

EDIT: Just ignore the tracks under the track guards, its like sweeping stuff under your bed or putting skeletons in your closet. Its just that easy.

I cant ignore that cylinder area >< it supports 5-6 pieces of track , pretty much the whole front and back area.

so 10 per side, 20 track pieces around the whole tank.

Use a huge clothespin or something like that to hold it in place then. Thats how I used to make my old WW2 tanks and other models with difficult things.

If you can't use clothespins, use scotch tape. Unfortunately this is one of the world's problems that would get worse if you used duck tape.

I thought the new stormlords and baneblades were plastic.

You know what though, I would rather get resin instead of plastic despite the fact that it breaks easily. Simply because of the fact that Resin sounds far sexier than plastic.

Luna- You should subtract the time you spent posting on dakka from the time you spent on the treads.

Time on treads - Time on threads= Total time on treads.

EDIT: Wrote math wrong

if you had magnets you could easily magnetize all the variants into one chassis. Would take some imagination and though, that's what I plan on doing with mine once I pick up the new kit.

Not neccesary , if you figure which piece to glue, and which to leave unglued, you dont need magnets. I just tried it.

Haha, not even close.

The Russ is old-style with wheels and runners. It fits "OK", but not great. It uses a lot of extra plastic for very little gain.

The Baneblade / Stormblade builds track more like a new Rhino. It has "floating" wheels and keyed track links. Technically, the design is better, except...

LunaHound wrote:

The design stems from an Shermanesque track design based on paired wheels on internal sub-chassis. The problem is that this doesn't carry over to the plastic, hence adding the hull extensions for the forward idlers that you so kindly highlighted.

You are correct that the design is wierd. This is because nobody at GW really knows how Tank / vehicle mechanicals are supposed work.

Man, those Shermans were hard to put together. I still recommend the use of tape and tweezers to place and hold in place individual treads. Place said tread, then glue and either use instant drying spray or tape it in place until the glue dries, if it turns out imperfect try to make the most visible parts near perfect and work on the bottom treads, which should be hurtin.

What it looks like though is that the two front treads are touching the cylinder so that's a possible starting place.
