The single armored leg was intended to accomodate kneeling. In my mind, I decided that resting the elbow of the firing arm on the raised knee might aid stability in the event that the bipod could not be used. However, as I have no experience operating fire-arms, I will have to defer to others with more experience - Swapping it to the other leg if the design is chosen is no biggie.

@ Lunahound
Is that your work? I hope that didn't come across as patronising, as it surely wasn't intended to be....but then, where have you been hiding this?
Its....brilliant. Ok, its simple, but thats also what I love about it! The design is fresh, clear, it looks proffessional....too pro. I hope this isn't a joke and its scanned in from GW or something
I like the two head options (that would translate to sculpt! ) well done...excellent work.

Well, character design for videogames, hopefully. Although, I wouldn't mind working in film or commercials, although my designs are obviously focussed more towards games.
Also, Delephont, as for Luna's posted design, perhaps you could try and contact drawfag on 4chan... if you're willing to risk losing your sanity on there.

@Fafnir: If you're gunning to be an illustrator / designer - best of luck. If you got in, you'd be living my dream. Unfortunately, reality punched me in the face and I gave up on that dream years ago.
@Luna: Tablets are cheap, if you're not picky about getting the best. You can pick up an entry level one for the cost of a superheavy! I have an old Graphire, but I don't use it.
-edit- I know the right elbow is totally screwed up. I inked the wrong lines and wasn't able to fix it.

Well, could you inform me why and reality punched you in the face? I'd like to know so I could have the best chance possible. I mean, I'd consider your drawings at the very least comparable if my own, and much more refined, with some great inking, so I'd like to know what setbacks you faced.

When you're kneeling to fire a long-gun (prone is the most stable position, but a kneel can be set up quickly, and you can get up quickly, it's more convenient) you're more concerned about stabilizing the barrel than the trigger, so the elbow of the hand stabilizing the barrel is resting on your forward knee, your rear knee is on the ground, and your trigger-hand elbow is tucked in as close to your side as possible. Inhale deeply, exhale half a breath, then squeeze. The bipod would be used when the sniper has enough time to set up a prone position. But in the kneeling position I just described, the leg opposite the trigger-hand-side is the leg that is forward and exposed to your target, so it makes the most sense to armor that one!

@Luna: Please do, by all means!
@Fafnir: First off, it is not my intent to on your aspirations with my post of doom and gloom, as the situation is markedly different now than it was back when I was looking to do the art thing. Here's a summary of the differences:
1. The video game market was not nearly as developed. This was back in the heyday of sprite based graphics and the Super Nintendo was king and the PS1 was just beginning to move in on its turf. As such, there wasn't the same sort of call for concept work in video games as there is now. I was more focused on comics. Image Comics were approaching their peak and people were feverishly buying up any gak they were putting out.
2. Anime had not gained widespread acceptance and was still very fringe. People drawing with a Japanese influenced style were looked at as huge nerds with an "unmarketable artstyle". Little did they know that we were merely ahead of our time!
3. There was no developed educational path for this profession. The best you could do was take fine art or commercial design.
4. The internet was in its infancy, so self-taught blokes like myself couldn't share/steal techniques from others.
I also attended a bunch of medium to medium-large conventions and did the portfolio thing. This was an eye opener, as there were literally hordes of other people doing the same thing. Judging by the level of the competition, I -knew- I wouldn't hire me, not without a lot of training. I had (and still have) a lot of weaknessess. I can't do colour work. My posing is generally weak, and my application of posture, while mechanically sound, is unnatural. I am bad when forced to redraw the same thing over and over, as I have trouble staying on model. Even -with- a lot of training, there was no guarantee that I'd be employed, and if I was employed, there was no guarantee that I'd have job security. So, basically, I was faced with the decision whether to take a chance and stake it all on a fine art / commercial design career path, or take the safe path, and get a professional degree. I took the professional degree. To this day, I do feel some regret over the path not taken. Considering how much I've improved through observation and self-refinement of my craft on an informal basis over the last 10+ years (I was much more rubbish when I was forced to make that fateful decision), sometimes I wonder what might have been if I actually had some training.
I'll leave you with the following quote by Calvin Coolidge: "Press on: nothing in the world can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

4chan is an 'image board': essentially a forum but with a lot more focus on posting images. It has sections for a lot of different categories: General, Video games, Tabletop gaming, etc. It also has a lot of adult material.
That's the nice unbiased description. Personally, I've looked at 4chan and it's the ultimate manifestation of Sturgeon's Law: 90% of everything is crap. The 'good stuff' that occasionally gets reposted here seems to be buried under piles of poorly done motivational posters, lolcats, and miscellaneous garbage. The regulars have a strange sense of entitlement: They tend to be quite unwilling to set any limits on what is acceptable to make fun of and seem to enjoy offending people. They (either specific sections or the entire thing) have been called "the cancer that is destroying the internet."
On the plus side they tend to annoy scientologists, which is kind of amusing and deserved.

It is a horrible, horrible web board filled with ADD riddled, gramatically broken, webspeak posts, terrible internet memes and lots of questionable material ( IMO, 98% of 4chan is NSFW). Just think of it as a completely no-holds-barred, crack fueled OT board split into basic categories constrained by little to no moderation. Yes. A very scary place indeed.

4chan... is filled with people like... ME! ( well i go there often )
but ... seriousely i see it as "human's display of their true nature"
which is indeed pretty ugly.
Bad things aside there are lots of nice sections.
/a/ = anime
/c/ = all things cute
/ck/ = food and cooking ( yes they can cook o_o)
/tg/ = filled with mostly 40k , or RPG people
/m/= mecha
Areas to avoid:
/B/ = This is where on the news they say "4chan is the anus of internet"
the people that goes to /b/ is proud to be the anus and will do their best
to keep it that way. They post variety of pictures that covers almost every type
of fear there are, and can easily traumatize you. ( well traumatized me before, cant you tell? o_o.... )

You know guys, I'm liking alot of the stuff thats coming out....but I gotta say, the one thats really sticking in my mind is the female Assassin from Keezus.
@ Keezus
I liked you second offering as well, the Eversor assassin, lets just say it blows away the G-Dub version!! I'd love to see a more simple version of a female assassin though....now I'm not saying I'd like you to copy the picture that Lunahound posted, because that would be an insult to your own style and work, but I wonder if you could capture that simplicity without losing that edginess you zapped us with in the first sketch?
