LOL....no not necessarily, although WH40K is in serious need of a womans touch one of the main reasons that Keezus's style sticks out is because of the clarity and boldness of his designs. They give you a one hit, clear impression of what the final product could look like, while fulfilling the brief.

Your designs look great, but at the moment, they don't leave an imprint on my mind probably simply due to the fact that they don't jump out of the screen at me. Maybe if you could find the time to darken in those lines, maybe get them on screen a bit clearer rather than a scan from your sketch book, this might help me see the rich potential that I think is contained in the designs......but of course thats your call.

I only have one on hand right now that I can actually darken, if I get a pen. Not very good at inking though. Anyway, I'll see what I can do.

I really like how this one turned out, though Keezus' is still probably better.

I give the win to this for the time. Simple, no-nonsense design, nothing crazy to add to being detected, an elegant pistol and a face smashing fist if needed. Very nice.

I love that Eversor, but IMHO the pistol could use a tad bit o work. Dont get me wrong, that Eversor looks totally badass. The pistol looks like it came from Buck Rodgers tho. It just feels...off.

Another reason why I like Keezus' Vindicare better is the Inquisition symbol on the shoulderpad. The eversor is missing any detail that would really tie it into the 40k universe.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Well, thing is that assassins shouldn't be able to be traced. Especially someone like the Eversor, who's likely to leave a body(or... the smouldering remains of one) behind in more dangerous missions. To have an assassin who couldn't be traced is very important.

Why? The Imperium uses the Officio Assasinorum as a tool of fear to keep the nobility in line. When someone is obviously assassinated, they WANT people to know who did it, and when they're used as part of a military campaign (as would be when an assassin is on a 40k battlefield) I don't think they'd care much.

I can see imperial assassins as indoctrinated super psychos who wouldn't be able to think without saying a prayer over their lucky aquilla belt buckle and counting out a string of prayers on their holy inquisition rosary, etc.

The way the imperium deals with things I think they want everyone to know who punched the targets ticket. Keep that fear and intimidation as a deterrent tactic chugging along it's imperial course. So in the case of an eversor they would want the explosion to leave as many bits that say "the inquisition marked this target for death" as they could.

On the other hand, each inquisitor is given some freedom as to how they protect and purge, so it makes perfect sense that some would use stealth assassins that would not reveal their agenda, even in death. The kind that don't want anyone to know the inquisition was involved, just let them think it was a random act of violence. I'm sure the imperium is rife with internal conflict among government officials, business and planatary organizations, etc., including the use of assassins. So your interpretation sounds equally reasonable/good. Either way, I like your eversor better as a basic assassin model.

Anyway, I have my submission finished, just need to scan it at work tomorrow so I can throw it up here. I did a different take on a callidus.

Great entries from everyone so far. It's a nice take to see the different ideas and concepts that have come up.

There are some nice minis by other manufacturers that make good assassins for 40k (if your store or local club isn't dead-set against you committing the gaming heresy of using non-GW minis).

The karakuri for the Yu-jing faction of Infinity by Corvus Belli are very nice for anthropomorphic bots.

There are a few other designs that are also quite useful.

Well, I think the Credit Crunch beating blank sheet by IRpurple automatically wins my vote. I imagine the miniature will be cheap as chips to make....and in this case, if anyone wants a copy just let me know, I'll send you one!

@ Chromedog

Oh yes, there are loads of Infinity miniatures that would make a super assassin, and other brands as well. However, I wanted to keep the door open for using this anywhere, any place, any time....which means, it needs to be scratch built and therefore beyond the evil pointing GW finger.

As for the obvious Inquisition markings. Well, theres a few things there, technically, according to GW I.P the sculptor would be breaking the law by sculpting that symbol onto the shoulder pad, or anywhere on any chosen entry, so even though the graphic shows the symbol, the actual piece would come without it.

@ Vladsimpaler

Nice entry, interesting pose, and idea.

Here is my entry.
The neural shredder would have to be on her hip(out of sight in this pic). The hair and the icon would probobly have to move slighty due to casting requirements as well.

Update:

Hi Peeps.

No I haven't jumped ship on this, but my "sculptor" has. All this means is that I need to find a new sculptor and quick smart....

The "comp" was supposed to run until the end of May, so there is still time to show what you got. Plus I'm gonna need that time to find a replacement sculptor....so if anyone knows of a reliable, and cost effective sculptor then please let me know.

TADA! Here we go, the penned product. Not very good at penning, but it should give a better idea of how it actually looks.

Oh, scanner's dirty because my sister's a pig. Can't do much about that.

Thats a nice piece of art. I really like the concept. Its a complete departure from what I actually had in mind, by that I mean, there is little "humanity" in this concept.....which is not necessarily a bad thing.
