So I've finally dusted off the camera and most of my mini's and got back to finishing off my Ultramarines.

You can blame all the distractions ive had lately, like my Imperial Guard army that im currently working on to support the ultramarines in apoc games, magnetizing my shadow sword, working on an ork mek boy army, commission painting a deathwing and chaos daemons army plus my bretonnian army which ive just started.. to name but a few..

I haven't finished all that much in the way of the UM lately except for some more scouts and these Sternguard.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Some other stuff I've been playing with lately..

Still have a fair bit to work on too.
The list includes:
Honour Guard
Vindicator
Whirlwind
Land Raider Reedeemer
3 x Drop Pods
10 x Tactical Marines
7 x Devastators
Ironclad Dread

I think thats about all I have left.. Hoping for a thunderfire cannon soon.. =)

At first I didn't really take any notice of the difference between the new pics and the older pics.. but I think I've gotten a lil bit better at highlighting the armour, its not as blunt as it used to be, plus i changed the colours I use =)

Instead of mixing space wolves grey with ultramarines blue i now use a mix of ultramarines blue with ice blue then finally ice blue by itself, finishing it off with a wash of asurman blue.

Those are some spiffy marines, Pal. My personal favorites are the Dreadnought and the Scouts.

I really like the look of the power weapons. Nice and different, and timely because I was trying to figure out a way to make my emperor's champion's black sword look a little different and neat.

So, I dragged the Marines out the other day and gave the Orks a battle.

We played 2500pts Calgars Ultramarines against Ghazkhulls unstoppable WAAAGH!

This was the first stages of Turn 1

Another angle

2 of my drop pods came down directly where i wanted them, 1 carrying 10 man tac squad and the other an ironclad dread. The Ironclad straight up knocked out one of the trukks with a single krak missile.

This is turn 2 or 3.. can't remember really.. i think turn 2 was a fairly boring turn of moving up and jus a bit of shooting.. My Vanguard got in though in this turn with a chaplain accompanying them, they charged a 10 strong Nob squad and wiped it out.

another angle of turn 3

Turn 4
The kans and battlewagon moved in for the kill against calgar redeember and honour guard. Later Ghazkull was dropped out of the battle wagon and miserably died against calgars unstoppable wrath. Funniest part of the match tho was when one of the kans fired its grotzooka scattered back to the centre of the mob and killed 2 of its own!

And in the end my marines, suffering losses of 1 unit of vanguard veterans and 1 chaplain, proclaimed victory over the battlefield.

Nice work on the shading and highlgihting! They are painted to a great table top standard! I like the colors you chose to highlgiht the blue.

A galaxy far far away

Those are some fantastic Ultramarines. Excellent shading and highlighting and good work on the camo on the scouts. My only complaint is that the Predator looks a little...busy

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

I really like your blue armour. It looks great. The white on the command squad however is not as good. Theres something about that blue shading that doesn't look goo at all! What would be better would be some black lining between armour plates.

Imp. Monkey

ps. Really nice shade of blue on chronus!

I love em, the only problem I have with ultramarines is their scheme and symbol. Living in Indianapolis we have a football team called the Colts, whose color scheme is blue and white (the exact same shade of blue) and their symbol is a white horse shoe...

Wow, just one question. When you say paint them in the same style as your Rhino wreck, do you mean long dead? Just curious....(and if your smart a-- alert is going off it's okay.)

Your stuff looks really nice. About how much time would you say it takes you per model? Obviously each model is different and the bigger the model the more work it needs.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

I have to say that despite the comments made about the highlighting I actually really like the style you've used. I bet they look really great in person at a tabletop distance. I'm also really a fan of the darker shade of blue that you have going. It really makes the Ultramarines look a little more menacing instead of the Emperor's lapdogs. Good work.

Had some time to take a few photos and post some photos of my recent projects, seeing as though I seem to keep being dragged away from my Ultramarines I thought I'd start posting up photos of all my other work I've been doing in between.

My brother and I were so Impressed by the ruined rhino in the terrain piece that we decided it would be a good idea for him to collect an Imperial Fist army using the same paint scheme.

Here's a few shots of my up and coming Imperial Guard army, I've used them a few times with stand in model and so far i'm really impressed with the way they play.
Just painted at a quick table top standard (mainly washes and simple highlights)

Your highlights aren't the absolute finest, tiniest lines in the world, and frankly I love that. Your highlights have volume and depth that puts most of those needlepoint-fine highlights to shame. Your work is phenomenal, and really evokes some older 'Eavy Metal, while still having its own uniqueness. I can't wait to see how that Stompa turns out.
