Rotting Sorcerer of Nurgle

@Da BLUE orks:
He killed nothing and died...'nuff said.

@I grappled the shoggoth:
Yes, he can be killy, but Ard Boyz is at least in my areas a regular points level...2000 seems like the upper crust for most tourneys.

What are the problems with him?
-Rolling a 1.
-Delivery.
-Points cost.
-oppurtunity cost.

Obviously if you solve at least 2 of the above issues he's looking better.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

encoer abaddon is not repeat not worth his points. he's the best single close combat model in the game though (possible exception lysander, swarmlord), so bringing him means you fear *no one* in close combat. but people know how unstoppably good he is in close combat so they just shoot him with plasmaguns. he'll live long enough to wreck 1 unit and then he's toast. that's my experience.

he's really fun though. once saw him go through an 8-strong unit of blood crushers without taking even one wound.. good stuff.

i know this is an old thread, but being an abaddon 'expert' i thought id say somefing
1. yes, abaddon seldom makes back his points. however, when he does, its priceless to watch ur opponent's prize death company or sang guard or mephiston etc get smacked
2. half ur edge is psychological. pretty much all 40k players know how lethal abaddon is. they see him in ur army, they are gonna freak out and tailor deployment to kill him or direct their entire army against him. that leaves everything else in ur army to do whatever they want
3. abaddon is unbeatable at killing annoying daemon princes, trygons, warbosses, etc. too many times i've lost games because i've been unable to kill that annoying tyrant or carnifex or whatever.
4. As long as you don't tailor ur army to fit abaddon and provide him with an adeguete bodyguard like 3 termies with tzeentch or nurgle, you shouldnt have to worry about plasmas.
I personally play abaddon in a 2000pt army, and while i haven't had the time to go to ard boys or arcanacon, i have actually won 5+ local tourneys with him and hes only ever died twice (once by mephiston where i rolled 4 1s for invul) and hardly ever rolls 1s for attacks. So abaddon, while not being really 'worth his points', is an immensly fun choice to take. Or you could be an arsehole and take 2 lash princes with wings instead.

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

—Captain Khârn of the World Eaters Legion's 8th Assault Company, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions

I ought to lock this for necronisation.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
