I ordered a 1520 at Adepticon for my IG, and I'm amazingly happy with it. I think Romeo hit it on the head when he said his product was more for the 10% of most serious hobbiests. I have a ton of painted IG, so having a big old bag is great for me.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to upgrade to a 1520(from the 432) for my Guard as I'm currently carrying less than half the tanks for it.

And probably grab a 720 for my Skaven.

Question for you porkuslime...I have noticed on the foam trays that I have seen that they have a tendency to 'stick' to models that are put into them. It appears that the bottom of the trays 'sweats' a thin layer of adhesive. I don't know if that is a side effect of the trays or the ridiculously high humidity in my area. Have you or anyone you knows experienced anything like this?

Jimsolo,
Are you talking about trays in general, or are you specifically referring to BF trays (that stick for you)?

The sabol pluck trays are the ones that MIGHT sweat sticky, but of all the various trays I have only 1 Sabol 1.5 incher that had that problem.

It was sufficiently annoying that I put it in the freezer for 2 days, and then "flexed" it a couple times over a trashcan upside down.. there was some "snow" and the problem never came back.

I think it was just a super heavy lay-down of adhesive..

Some more follow up. I now have an Outrider Tray that holds 4 Rhinos, comfortable, with space for 2 Dreads as well. I REALLY like this tray, and will be looking for some more of them.

I also have acquired 5 more Battlefoam trays that are the 40 man 1inch infantry trays, I like them SO much.

About the only thing I am using basic Sabol pluck foam for now is "oddly shaped" miniatures.. Tau Firewarriors and Pathfinders, for example.

Pistol cases are cheaper and you don't have to cut anything. Just saying.

And, you get a hard case to boot. Aren't pistol cases about 8-10 bucks at Walmart or equivalent? How thick are they? (can someone hold a Rhino in it, or a Land Raider?)

Yep. The larger pistol case has three foam pads. Take out the middle pad and you can carry a slew of rhino sized vehicles. They are ideal for minis that have been converted or are larger/more ungainly than your standard trooper. Plus you cna mix and match-carry 40K one day, EPIC another.

In other areas of a store its just a carrying case.

I ordered a few Battlefoam trays, and ALL of mine had wet, sticky blobs of glue on them. So it isn't a fluke. It seems to be a common problem. My trays were also attached to the base foam a little crooked. The claim they make that their foam is a higher quality product is clearly just a marketing strategy. Mine were pretty low quality. You're paying extra for the etched logo and customization, not for high quality.

Call Romeo. Do not email.

I did, and he sent replacement trays super quick.

Not only that, he did send some extra trays as "make it up for you" sorta thing..

I recently tried to order the Sabol "Division" case from their website, only to find that my APO address was removed from options for shipping... So, i gave him a call, the lady who answered the phone connected me directly to Mr. Sabol himself, where he explained the Shipping Situation in the US.

Long story short, he worked very well with me and my army casing "needs" and less than a week after i placed my order, the case had arrived, so now my Tyranids, which seriously need the pluck foam have their own "hive" to hang out in.

As a review for the case itself, its wonderful.. wheels and extending handles (for if you were to take it as a carry-on on a flight) the tray configuration leaves literally no room for moving about in transit, its THAT snug. I have noticed some slight warping as a pull some of the foam pieces out, but that all goes away as soon as I place them back into the case.

I agree with Jim, here.
Call Romeo. Whatever problems anyone else has with him, I doubt that anyone can honestly say he doesn't treat his customers well.

You may just be surprised.

wouldn't those kind of cases absolutely murder things like Chaos Marine tanks with the spike racks on them?

What is the minimum order on Battlefoam? I want to try them in place of my Sabol trays.

one tray. they'll be happy to sell you as little or as much as you want. the shipping though will be a more significant % of the bill the less you order.

I just placed a small oreder with BattleFoam this morning. I am very curious to see how well the trays compare to the Sabol ones I currently use. I do kinda fear that I might like the Battle Foam more than the Sabol. If that is the case I will have 50+ trays to replace (ouch!).

well, its not like you would need/want to do it all at once. I think that the key is army choice... My tyranids are going into a Sabol case, simply because some of my model positions wouildnt work even in battlefoam (and i dont want to trace outlines for them just to get a single custom tray. My guard on the other hand, will be going into battle foam. 1 because they are definitely a more "artwork" centric army, and 2 because there are so many vehicles, i cant possibly transport them the way i have been my marine vehicles
