It's Apocalypse - Stuff happens.

Springing a surprise is well and properly-deserved - that's how Apoc works.

It's pretty clear (to me) that they took the Assassin Strike Force, which costs 100 pts, conferring Flank March and Strategic Redeployment on the Assassins. It's a good Datasheet, and I usually take 4 or 6 Eversors this way if I'm playing Guard.

According to the rules, Strategic Redeployment is revealed at the start of any Movement phase, so no advance notice is required.

That said, if Hold At All Costs (all non-Vehicles are Scoring to the last model) was the basic Strategem taken that the Game Organizer ruled on as Infantry & Cav, the opponents really had no excuse for their poor play. And really, if someone is taking that much non-Troops, you should expect this.

They should learn from their mistakes, and should always defend their objective.

A Dick Move on their part, not yours.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

If you made your opponents aware that you could redeploy these units prior to the start of the game then they obviously should have taken steps to prevent this from happening. You said you did so I'll take your word for it. On the other hand if you didn't then I can understand that they might be unhappy.... You spend all that time playing the game then lose due to what they considered to be a cheap trick; I can see how that would make the other side view the game as rather pointless and a waste of their time.

Based off what Manwithironhands said (that the organizer said that infantry was scoring) I see no reason why the Vindicaires rule that they don't score would no longer be in effect. If the organizer didn't make that clear before the game, I would definitely have a sour taste in my mouth if at the end of the game the other team was like "Surprise, the organizer changed the rules and we win!" According to Manwithironhands, they were playing ROLLING THUNDER (since GW apparently caught on that caps lock is cruise control for cool), but I don't see anything in the ROLLING THUNDER brief about non-scoring units magically scoring (course, it also says that you give Strategems as normal, so maybe this was a case of organizer gone mad with power).

The organiser took a look at the table and there was a big lack of scoring units (unit of gaunts, unit of fire warriors, unit of kroot, unit of boyz and 2 tac squads). So she said that any model on foot regardless of their special rules could capture as the objectives in this game were artilery spoters that had lost their com link to their army and that all units carryed a replacement one for them. Not quite whats in the rule set for the game senario but would have worked out well for the oposing side more than ours.

Yea these kids dont seem to know its a game, they always play to win. Only seeing the objectives which blinds them to what is going on around them.

Moves like the one I did should teach these guys the lesson to not leave your rear unguarded. If it makes me a dick to teach these kids how to play properly so be it they will probly thank me in the end.
