Statistically, you will almost certainly die when assaulting a well-maintained fortress with a competent commander. You must strive to make your death useful.
- Training Manual, Penal Legion, Suicide Bomb Squads
also regardless of the theme, the Imperial guard and other imperial forces have been clearly stated as using terrorist tactics, in DoW:dark crusade is a recentish example.
also GW even had suicide bomber imperial guard model circa 1990, i can't find the website right now but they did exist.
people need to chill out when it come to this stuff, unless the person is actually being a prick and only doing this for attention or to troll just let them get on with it and give constructive criticism and try not to let it get to overly political.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

Yep, 40k is a game, the same way Hotel Rwanda was "just" a movie. The same way Blood Diamonds was "just" a movie. The Kingdom was "just" a movie. Hey, wasn't Saving Private Ryan a movie? It doesn't at all represent the sacrifices families or their loved ones make when they go to make war so you can butcher the English language in peace.

Yes, but they don't resemble the stereotypical modern day terrorist... They aren't wearing turbans or suicide vests loaded with plastic explosive and marbles and nails, they aren't wielding AK 47s, so the IG don't immediately cause our minds to conjure up images of Radical Islamists and the people in the videos wielding scimitars and explaining why this kidnapped person is going to be without a head in a short bit, capire?

I see no pictures of models. The only thing to criticize is his army choice, and his reasoning as to why he decided to make such a controversial army that represents the radicals of a religion whose sole aim is to use terror to gain their ends.
Rico.

Err... No. They're known as shemag hs. See, isn't it just irritating when the only reply to someone is in the form of a small anomaly that contributes just about nothing to the topic at hand?
Rico. Automatically Appended Next Post: dracomere wrote:Shemagh
You're right, they aren't. Hell, I'm modelling shemaghs and scarves onto my special forces troops. But this isn't boiling down to what we call head scarves and who uses them, you're making a terrorist army. Uhh, my bad. Renegade IG army based on Terrorists.

Is that the only thing from his post that you can counter-act? Just because someone wears a shemagh or turban doesn't mean they're a terrorist (I, for instance, wore a shemagh in the desert... they are amazing). It's the theme of your army. And the fact that you're saying that it's based on Call of Duty MODERN Warfare 2 (hint hint, this game is based on real life) tells me you know very little on the subject. Imagine if you played this "army" in a LGS, and a veteran walks in and sees your army. Or perhaps a mother of a soldier who was killed overseas. Or maybe even someone who had their life changed by the events that occurred on 9/11. There's just so much room for conflict by doing this. I mean take this thread for instance. You haven't even started making this army and it's already riled up a few individuals. 40k is a Sci Fi universe that IS NOT this one. Why you would want to represent a real life terrorist faction in a science fiction GAME is beyond me. What's next? An army of pedophiles? Yeesh... EDIT: First part of my post was written before you corrected yourself, so ignore that.

hahaha... there are a lot of things you can say to Rico's posts. But I don't think its fair on the original poster to clout his thread with offtopic banter yeah?[u]
All I can say is that terrorism is a very contentious issue, and there are more views than the one expressed by people here... I study terrorist identity at postgraduate level by the way ... so I know there's a LOT of commentary on 'what is terrorism' and 'who are terrorists' (and the all important one - 'why?').
Anyway:
Check these out, they're pretty cool.

Other than the Afghan irregulars, you could probably use the other two irregular troops to give you some ideas for your units.

Thanks to all the riled up people, I've dropped the idea. FYI The US wears shemaghs in COD MW2, the guy has one on the front cover, and by terrorists I meant to the Imperium. I wasnt modeling these after taliban or extremists, just the guy on the cover with the ak47 (my favorite gun in cod4) Sorry for all the misunderstanding. Thread Closed

Seeing that Call of Duty 6 is coming out in November, I wanted to celebrate by making some terrorist imperial guard.
Giving them Ak47s and shemaghs... Can't blame all those disgruntled people.
Anyhoo, my work here is done. I bid you a prosperous evening.

Locking thread.
If the original poster wants to start another thread about his Renegade Guard idea, I will thank people not to troll or spam it.
I know people were objecting to the use of the AK47 model. It seems a rather petty objection.
You could use one of the other spare SF weapons available from Pig Iron or Hasslefree. There are other companies too.
