Gotta disagree with you about the No Retreat rule. Otherwise combats between units would last forever.

No retreat is one of my favorite rules in 5th, I just wish it had some sort of shooting equivalent "too crazy/dumb to duck" or some such. Too many fearless armies in 40k, glad to see it weakened overall.

Ill agree with this. And honestly I DONT see how its such a confusing rule. Even mated with a res orb, its not CONFUSING PEOPLE!
First time I played against my nephews Necrons, I didnt take ANY PKs and went strait horde (mainly so he would get happy with killing a million Orks. Its all about morale at my table) but when I finally got into CC, it took just as long to kill them, as it did to march across the entire battle field. It sucked, those basterds just kept getting back up. The kid can roll really well too, I dont understand it, but I let him roll my scatter dice still, his best is 5 direct hits in a row, its insane lol

Um... my least favourite rule in 40k is probably the fact that a monstrous creature can't move and shoot in he same turn with heavy weapons, Isn't the point of a monstrous creature to kill as much as it can before it gets taken down? How the hell is it meant to do that if it can't shoot heavy weapons easily? Anyway, i thought being monstrous was a bonus of being strong, so something thats strong should be able to shoot and move in he same turn.

Best: Hrm. Tough choice, but I'd have to say Jet infantry. So much more useful to move 6 inches, shoot, then move another 6. (As opposed to Jump infantry, who just move 12" in the Movement phase)

Worst: Two-way tie. First off is the Consolidation rule that you can't consolidate into more assaults. I once considered playing Dark Eldar for some of their ridiculous consolidation rolls. Then I learned that 5th ed stops you from doing it (Might have been in 4th, not sure).

Also, I hate that wounds can't be allocated across squads to avoid removing casualties. I just think that if one model takes a wound, he'd be sort of hanging in the back of the unit so as to stay useful for as long as possible. But nope, as soon as that model takes a wound, suddenly he's the one who's charging into combat in a frenzy.

(Oh, and I too hate the rule that the person who controls the unit gets to allocate who got hit. IMO, it should either be randomized or up to the shooter/assaulter...as Nelson put it so nicely, apparently a Nob is free to start clipping people in half, but when it's time to take wounds, apparently a bunch of his Boyz bodyguards from way in the back ran forward and took the hits for him)

Best:

TLOS, I can shoot what I can see.

Removing casualties by the defender.

Eldar Exarchs, they really are much better then the rest of the squad.

Troops being useful, even necessary. I would even let a player take one non-troops unit for every troops he has, or sth similar.

Worst:

TLOS, I can shoot your tank through a forest, two windows in a ruin and between Bloodthirster's legs.

No assault after Run. WTF? I can shoot and then draw my sword to assault but I can't run with my sword and assault? So stupid.

Rapid fire and no assault. What is so different between Boltgun/Lasgun and Shuriken Catapult/Shoota? They basically operate the same, have 2 shots per turn etc., but some dumbass decided that an ubermensch Marine can't charge after shooting, but puny Eldar Guardian can.

Cover saves thanks to intervening models. Passed cover saves should hit intervening unit, not vaporize in air.

Consolidation at least 1" from the enemy. That is incredibly stupid.

Transport vehicles don't really make your infantry move faster, only little safer.

Fearless saves after loosing a fight. I prefer normal LD test or ATSKNF.

Blast weapons which can actually scatter in your face. GG Vindicator tank, you blew yourself up. Happens often with IG Demo Charges.

Lack of rules unification. CSM dozer blades don't work if you move more than 6", but SM/SW do work flawlessly.

No shooting into fighting units and the necessity to cover as much as you can with template/blast without touching your own units.

To-hit chart, where a typical WS-4 Marine hits WS-8 IC with 50% chance. And you just simply can't hit anything more reliable than 3+.

Monstrous Creatures can move and shoot heavy weapons in the same turn, though... They're Relentless...

Favorite is defanatly the Ramshackle rule for Ork trukk, it's so cool, yet so unfair. Least favorite is totaly go to ground, I think it's pretty much useless.

Least Favorite:

I don't know best, but GK shrouding is cool just to laugh at hapless artillery spamming fools!

Worst is definitely the ridiculous Fearless wounds rule. I think I would prefer to run away instead of taking all those saves. SM Combat Tactics and ATSKNF are also really unfair I think. At least tone it down a bit.....

Either that or take a 4+ cover save from all of GW's red tape blocking LoS to the way to play it. - Kitzz

-Worst rules-

Pinning - Well it's actualy usful... it's just that pretty much now 80% of W40K is fearless or has some kind of immunity for it (synaspe, ATSKNF, etc)

Stealth suit stealth generators - Yes.. lets have stealth generators that work with a 50-50 chance around 18-21 inch's. Oh wait... we got retardedly short range weapons so we HAVE to move in close... kinda pointless imho.

Sweeping Advance - While it serves fine to quickly resolve most combats at the end of a punch on, it's actualy pretty hard to sweep without equal amount of units (ie 11 tau fire warriors flee from 2 space marines.... then the 2 sweep them.. how the hell do they get all 11 of them??)

Best

Jump Infantry (jet pack) - Weeeeeee, 6" assault move regardless of anything
Scatter rolls - Just gotta love killing your own troops (i'm look at you IG players!)
