OK as far as the trukk/wagon argument goes. Unless you give them shots at your rear like a fool a wagon is still better then a trukk. But to be fully implemented they are best in unison. BOLTERS can stop trukks for gods sake! Using a wagon as a big brother to block shots as you speed ahead, and then pounce. With a KFF mek to give you the happy bubble, all will be well. Anyway here is what I would run at 1000pts, and have, and it has worked rather well.

HQ- Poor mans Ghazzy- Warboss, Mega armor, cybork, squig= 125 not as good as ghazzy but 100pt cheaper
HQ- Bigmek, KFF, grot oiler=90 a must for mech lists

Troop-18 slugga boyz, nob upgrade, pk, bosspole=148
Troop-19 slugga boyz, nob upgrade, pk, bosspole=154
Troop-12 slugga boyz, nob upgrade, pk, bosspole, trukk w/ red paint job, reinforced ram=157

Fast Attack- 1 Deff Koppta, TL rokkits=45
Fast Attack- 1 Deff Koppta, TL rokkits=45

Heavy Support- Battlewagon, deffrolla, boarding plank, red paint job, 1x bigshoota=125
Heavy Support- Battlewagon, reinforced ram, boarding plank, red paint job, 1x bigshoota=110

At this point total I dare most armies to pop a battlewagons front 14 with a 4+ concealment save. even the sides are hard to pop with that 4+, and if you play properly they will never get at that av 12. If they split up to try and flank you then you are already winning because Orks LOVE when their opponents make it easy to isolate them.

Good list. Good tactics. Poor mans ghazzy ... enitire squad will be slow and purposeful, not good thing but not if you are not extremely unlucky. Maybe if there are some spare points for second big shoota on the wagon as if some melta+lascannon squad (vets+vendetta) is close they will do like 3 pens per turn. Good list.

Alotta times mech orks vs mech guard will come down to who gets first turn. With some good deployment you can avoid some nasty situations, but in the end so can your opponent. As always this is a game of luck, your tactics and skill can tip the scales in your favor, but never can you put your army on the table and know 100% that you will win.

Thats extremely competitive all those grots! they will smash enemy in CC! . If you dont begin against guard both of your wagons will be dead/immobilised etc. Melta vets in vendetta in your side armour etc...

So even if I concede side armor to melta vets in a vendetta they have about a 23% chance of popping a wagon if they get turn 1. That's if they get first turn. There are so many things to take into account. Scenario, deployment, night fight... All I'm saying is I prefer my better AV to something that caves to bolter fire. All I say is that if people won't take wagons they at least take KFF with all their flimsy trukks.
