Not really, with the sinking of the HMS Prince of Wales earlier in the war by a few Japanese planes, the importance and power of airport overtook the battleship in the history of war. While the loss of those battleships may have pushed the Pacific command to extreme reliance on its carriers, it was already apparent that battleships were slipping in terms of their importance in the art of naval warfare.

Nah, its just that people didn't realise the effectiveness of aerial recon, torpedo attacks and bombing. The IJN was able to deploy its battleships to full effect but they turned about to be far less effective than the carriers.
Look at the effectiveness of the battleship oriented Royal Navy in the first half of the war. There's a quote from Churchill after Pearl Harbour and the concurrent sinking of the Prince of Wales and the Repulse and that other boat that the allies were naked in the Pacific as they had no capital ships. It turns out they weren't needed, as it was all about the carriers.
Resolute? Gah, it was the Prince of Wales and the Repulse. Cheers to Jeb for triggering my memory.

Both Japan and the US suscribed the Mahan Doctrine that put the superiority of the battleship over all other units. But after Pearl Harbor the US had a first hand lesson about how air power that they changed their doctrine. Weird enough the IJN after showing the world how defenseless a battleship was to a determined air attack fell back in their Decisive Battle doctrine.

Not really, just stating that the British did it before, with less resources, out-dated planes, no Ben Affleck and with more style.

I hope i remember this right.
Ok so winston churchill on a trip to the white house was staying in lincolns bedroom. He was taking a shower. He then came out wearing nothing but a cigar. He then saw lincolns ghost staring right and him not saying anything. Churchill the said "Mr. President you seem to have me at a disadvantage here." Lincoln then left. Then whenever he stayed at the whitehouse he would sleep in the basement with the staff and the never stepped in the room again.
Atleast that how i remember it. not sure if it was churchill but im sure it was a prime minister.

There was a professor who proposed that the USAAF bombed the volcanos on mainland Japan in hopes of making them erupt. Plus the USAAF wanted to use bats with small incendiary bombs strapped to their torsos on Japanese cities. And the British wanted to build a massive carrier out of Pykrete (wood pulp and ice)

The Ming Dynasty was overthrown by disgruntled postal workers.
Nobunaga Oda was one of the most successful generals in Japanese history, damn near invincible in battle. Then one day he sent his army north and stayed in Kyoto trusting his loyal vassel Mitsuhide to protect him. Mitsuhide promptly killed him and took over. 11 days later Nobunaga's army came back and well, that was the end of Mitsuhide.
North Korea only exists because we dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki when we did. If Japan had surrendered a bit earlier there'd be no North Korea. If they'd surrendered later there'd be no South Korea. The border is basically where the Soviets advanced to when Japan surrendered.

actually the pykrete would be brilliant if they could keep it cold it could easily withstand a torpedo
