Name one forum dedicated to GW gaming in particular better than Dakka.

Its an adult forum with lots of traffic.
What kind of forum has a similar traffic? B&C? Warseer?

Whoa didn't even notice that, Dakka has way more traffic then 'Seer; might have something to do with twice the amount of lurkers. (At least right now). I have no clue how they get 100 page threads about female SMurfs over there.

Another thing, they suck at dates. Sometimes their time stamps say they have 31 months in the year, but only 12 days per month, which is obviously wrong.

I'm not sure why I'm here. Probably like pissing people off in OT forum.

There are enough older players for there to be some good, well informed opinions, and enough younger players for me to spellcheck and bother about poor grammar. It makes me feel good about myself.

People also aren't as thin-skinned as they are on Warseer. I never posted there, but lurking there can be pretty painful. Good rumors though.

Bolter and Chainsword was my first 40k forum, and was a good place to start. Once I wanted to do an army in addition to Marines I was pretty much done there though.

I actually lurked on Dakka a while ago, back when the site was white instead of brown/grey and consisted almost entirely of powergamers yelling at each other. One poster then called Dakka "A cancerous tumor in the wargaming community."

Feels like home

My first forum was Librarium Online, I searched "Imperial Guard Army Lists" and it was the first result.

I checked some other sites to cross-reference a while later, and it looked like Librarium's advice of "take more Griffons" wasn't really falling in line, with, well, anyone.

I found Dakka by chance then and it just became my favorite (is it just me, or do we have a disproportionate amount of Guard threads?)

People know what they're talking about here, and the community still has some of that powergaming I read about to it - people accept which units are bad instead of trying to justify everything, and it's nice.

Dakka has fewer idiots than any of the other major forums. Not that there aren't a significant number of idiots hanging around. There's simply not enough of them to make me want to claw my eyes out after reading, which is really all I ask of any forum.

Anyway, if you really want to get banned from Warseer HBMC, it's easy. Start a bunch of Space Marine hate threads in the 40k Discussion board.

That was one of my pet peeves, they'll allow "hate" threads for other armies, like Tau or Eldar, but if you do one on Marines it gets locked.

All of my real life friends talk about nothing but Warhammer, so I come here to talk about unrelated things in the Off Topic section.

Dakka is home. I joined back in 2002 to argue with Mauleed. Even at its lowest point it has been a fun place to be. Despite some efforts to spam stupidity by certain posters, Dakka remains intelligent and more comfortable for older gamers.

I lurked here for years while I was more active on Warseer. It wasn't until Triggerbaby made me laugh so hard I peed a little that I decided to join in here full time. I don't know if I've posted on Warseer since (though I do head back from time to time to look at the pretty pictures). Oh at the time I joined the hate-GW levels were so high I felt a different point of view was needed. Fortunately I'm more moderated now, HBMC and I haven't even fought in like 2-3 months!!

Mature and adult posters who will offer helpful and constructive advice to modelling efforts. Also, some incredible blogs. Its the place to be.

I was lured by Malfred's manbag and haven't been able to escape since.

Dakka is the least terrible of the GW related sites.

Note that does not mean that the site is NOT terrible. It's not even very good. In fact, it's really just a further parody of everything that is wrong with the "hobby".

Howling masses, internet toughguys that think they're special because the absentee site owner gave them special privileges, all that.

It's really just something for me to have a laugh at when I don't feel like logging in to WoW or work on models and something to share a laugh with the boys at the local GW store.

I haven't, but I haven't been to Warseer since it changed it's name from Portent and stopped being good.

I haven't been banned but then I don't post stuff in wrong forums or make personal attacks against mods over there so I guess I haven't had a reason to be banned.

Yes, I am as big an arsehole over there as I am here; I just know I can't post threads whining about certain armies in the News and Rumors thread which appears to me to be why most get banned.

I also prefer Warseer for everything BUT the OT topics. In that regard Dakka is better. For anything actually related to 40K I prefer Seer.

I'm not just specifically on Dakka, I'm on as many warhammer forums as I can be on. I only post on general purpose forums or forums about tyranids, but I read about Tau, Daemons, and read B&C. I'm here to find every single detail about the game that I can. I like to know about my game, know about my opponents, and know about the meta. To be simple I'm here to win. Though most of my games played are just me goofing off I still have an innate desire to dominate and I have gained countless amounts of useful ideas and been exposed to different views that improve my game. I want to know and see everything while playing a 40k battle, simultaneously. This forum helps.

I've never been banned from Warseer. I don't even regularly read Warseer.

Basically, I post here because this is the smartest and most mature miniatures forum I've been to that has actual content, as scary as that may sound. Most posters are quite well-behaved and the mods are efficient and effective and create minimal drama. And mostly I come here for the News & Rumours/Painting & Modelling forums, which consistently have better content than other forums I've been to.

I haven't messed around with the article system but the gallery is top-notch. And I haven't joined a painting contest, but I really like seeing the results. It would be cool if that could be stretched to other parts of the hobby, like a unit creation contest or something.

Dakka has a great gallery and as said earlier, it's fairly polite compared to other forums!

I got here through doing a search on modelling and painting I think.

Lurked for a while, really enjoyed the P&M articles and blogs and eventually joined up to thank some of the posters for their efforts in helping people like me to learn new techniques.

I often read the YMDC threads for their views and enjoy the sometimes lively discussions that take place.

As a mature gamer (i.e. old git) this seems like just the right place for me to be, so cheers to all the mods and admins for making it so.

It's a reliable source of news for me. The painting forums have a lot of participation. And in Spanish forums, if you visit 4 of them, you will see at least the 5 same users in both 4, posting the same stuff. Don't know why xD

I agree and say that the people here are rather... well-behaved compared to other sites. Also I am still kinda of a n00b when it comes to gaming so I find this site helpful when it comes to painting, stragety, rules, etc.
