Most commonly drunk: tea with one sugar and a bit of milk.

Alchoholic:
I mostly drink beer now, my undergraduate whiskey drinking days are sort of over. I prefer stouts, but I love a lot of British ales as well, much prefer them to irish ales.
My favourite stout is Wrasslers XXXX. Then probably Porterhouse Plain Stout. Then...O'Haras. Then...probably Guinness, then Beamish, then Murphy's.
My favourite ale is Old Jock, but I really like a lot of different ones.

Whiskey wise, I prefer irish whiskey to scottish whisky. Jameson would be what I'd buy in a pub, probably. Like rum too, especially spiced rum.
Not a fan of other spirits, or most lagers.

I've had the last couple of years Single Barrel seleciton for the 3rd Infantry Division, and they have been pretty good. Poured over a couple of ice cubes it is smooth yet has that JD burn.

Makers Mark bourbon is decent too. I also got a VERY good deal on a 1.75 liter bottle of Jim Beam black a couple of weeks ago. I usually keep a decent bottle of rum on hand for mojitos and some decent tequilla and triple sec for margaritas too (for the wife mostly). Right now there is also a bottle of Irish Mist and a bottle of Knob Creek in the cabinet. Also a bottle of Crown Royal because one of my neighbors drinks it and I keep it on hand for him.

Beer wise I like a bunch and also brew my own when I have time. Currently have some Sam Adams Cream Stout in the fridge.

Non alcoholic: I drink coffee (2-3 cups a day) and water (lots), once in a while some fruit juice. If eating out I'll usually stick with water but will sometimes have unsweetened ice tea.

I know it's not as smooth, but I sort of enjoy that

Even though scottish whisky is generally considered superior now, back in the day it was widely considered to be inferior. According to some book about booze I read.

Still, I rarely drink whiskey anymore. In my undergraduate days it lead to a lot of hyperactive sillyness and much shirt tearing !

I was generally led to believe that Irish whisky was smoother, and that scotch was more...'strident'.

Yes, I am aware that this post makes me sound like a pretentious knob-head.

Hah, really? Well I haven't drunk much high quality irish whiskey, some proper aged Bushmills would be the height of it. My friends all prefer whisky.
Jameson is really pretty good I think, for something you can get in any pub.

Yeah, I LOVE that stuff - it always ends up messy after a few shots of that though....

Favourite non-alcoholics are vimto and a mocha with coconut syrup.

Favourite alcoholics are imported lagers e.g. san miguel, kirin, lucky (comes in a bottle shaped like a buddha), miller, GD etc etc and most spirits, although my all-time favourite is sailor jerry dark rum!

I need to tell my friend that. He's doing a Gap Year in England and one thing he misses a lot is Bundy Rum.

I do like Maker's Mark Bourbon. The only one I tried before that was Jim Beam White Label, and thought that was disgusting.

I have a few.

Woodford Reserve Bourbon, rocks.

Bulleit Bourbon, rocks.

Bailey's, Whole Milk, rocks.

Woodford, Bulleit, or Knob Creek old fashioned.: made with sugar cubes, not simple syrup. strain the cherries and oranges out, and use them more like an essence, rather than a "part".

and, if I am feeling the clear spirits...

Bellringer or Beefeater gin martini, shaken, twist.

and some of my favorite beers are:

Stone Ruination IPA
Elysian Dragonstooth Stout
Stone Russian Imperial Stout
North Coast Brewing's Red Seal Ale
Mcmenamins Smoked Hefeweizen
and some Stella Artois for those hot days and you need a light beer.

I am a big fan of the good ol Dr. Pepper. While I was in Texas last year we stopped at a Drug Store where they made sodas the old fashioned way (add syrup to glass, add carbonated water. It was fantastic. Not as strong a flavor as the current soda, but refreshing.

They do that at the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco. There is nothing quite as refreshing as an ice cold Dr. Pepper and a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream on a hot Texas summer day.
