The could interbreed if Eldar had any interest in sex; they do not.

So How do they reproduce?
So that means most elder couples are in a plantonic relationship

they (eldar) currently view "copulation" purly as a means of reproduction, To stave off Slannesh's predations. A purely functional view of the act.

This would mean an Eldar would be a highly unsatisfactory partner for a human. nice to look at, but not a reciprocating partner.

That turned out to be a dead monkey, and they had strategically broke some bones so make it look more human, sorry to burst your bubble...

I say that since the eldar require multiple 'contributions', it would be more sensible for eldar male/human female, but the offspring wouldn't be too stable genetically. I suppose the reason most people use a eldar mother is the age-old elf-fantasy.

More importantly if you can think of the fluff go for it, wierd experiments, IVF, work of warp-entities etc etc.

As for a motive, 'when in the imperium, do as the imperials do...'

I think he's referring to Oliver, which has genetically proven to be a Chimpanzee, though one that had randomly developed facial and physical features(also found to be within the varietal norms for Chimpanzees, though rarely seen in that combination) that made it look more human and walked around as a biped more(pretty much exclusively) than the average Chimp. The Discovery Channel made a Documentary about him named "Humanzee".

He enjoyed the company of humans more than chimps(especially females), smoked, and mixed drinks. His original owner sold him when Oliver attempted to rape his wife.

well wouldnt they still enjoy it because way back before the Imperium and when the eldar empire was fully funtioning they were corrupted and created slaneshh right?

so now they guard against it but in the end they still would enjoy it but they'd just try not to to avoid turning

Xenology is a more recent source and retcons. It pretty bluntly lays out the ways in which eldar and humans are biologically different. Details about the bone and muscle structure, the layout of the internal organs etc.

While the 'multiple conceptions' issue has been addressed above, I think this quote from it is further proof it is not possible for them to breed:
Xenology, pg 25 wrote:Unsurprisingly, this cellular 'code' exceeds our in complexity - a quintuple helix where ours is double, twenty chemical bases replace our four, and the Eldar's sample (says Darvus) 'distorts in response to the examiner's concentration'.

Quintuple vs binary helix and twenty bases vs four? Yeah, no way in hell are eldar and humans compatible.

Note, not being able to breed has no impact on whether they can have sex, that's more a simple plumbing matter.

There was a Necromunda Special character who is the offspring of an Eldar father and human mother, and this was in fairly recent fluff, so it is possible and does not require "multiple" visits.

although necromunda and 40k have related fluff they should not be taken and put together.

GW is not-repeat-NOT consistent and all games should be seperated as far as fluff goes.

the reason for multiple conceptions could be that a eldar's sperm only contains 1 chromesome and 12 visits are required. therefore a male eldar + female human, but not a male human + female eldar is possable.

the basic concensus is eldar + humans is highly unlikely(assuming it is possable, which i don't) and so is generally considered impossable by most.

unless GW says specifically that it is possable we must assume it isn't
