To be fair, some don't breed. The "legendary" ones and several of the weirder or machine-looking ones don't.

I suppose you could rationalise that by saying that they would only reproduce very rarely, though in truth it's just a gameplay measure to stop people having a team of Mewtwos. Don't ask me to rationalise legendaries in ruby/sapphire/diamond/pearl though, I got nothin'.

The only rationalization you need is that everyone is incredibly responsible somehow Like at the end of Platinum when you stop the guy from getting Heatran because removing it would upset the natural balance, then you go and immediately capture Heatran after for yourself. Cuz... something. I dunno.

Weirdest thing though, things like nidoran had distinct male and female things, where as every other species was just the same.. make sense? no.

Shroomish and Breloom!

I know they're super cute and all, (shroomish and breloom were other favs of mine, just not top faves). But if I saw a shroomish, I don't think I could resist eating him. I'd either die or take a trip to candyland, which sounds delightful to me.

Now for a fun fact about Norwulf!!!
I used to nickname my shroomish "Cubenzi"

I've never nick-named with any consistency. Normally I just change their names to what their final evolved form will be, except with lower case letters. I remember getting Thunderpunch on Breloom on emerald from the move tutor. x4 Flying weakness? It was just too perfect a bait... Shroomish is the core of most of my poke-teams still.

I was quite consistant with nicknaming my pokemon. For some reason I couldn't stand to leave thier name untouched.

Emeth is hebrew for life, a key part in the golem myth, atlas was a greek mythological character who held the world on his shoulders which fits torterra in my mind, vulcan was the roman god of fire i think, so i named my typhlosions that, and I had a gund teddy bear as a kid so I named my banette that because he looks like a possesed doll. The others are self explanitory. I'm glad you payed attention to this, it could be on Jepordy! some day!

Ha, I was thinking Atlas being strong and sturdy, but the world on the back makes total sense for Torterra. Totally wouldn't have made the Gund connection I did nickname a team once after the members of Dream Theater but changed it shortly after because it just confused people.

I think the buildings in pokemon are made of cheeseburgers.

the first 151 pokemon were awesome, the next 100 so (gold and silver) were ok, but after that it just seemed like they were just different series of stripes, horns, and claws....


still, my pokemon dream team was:
