As an IG player, I can basically point/laugh as I can take vehicals, that, for there points, simply can't be beat. As troops choices. In squadrons. With goofy vetran skills. ArCo FTW!

Exept by that blasted Rhino... 35 points, it does nothing, and it does it for free. =/

No points limit, I lurve my BlingBlade (TM) (the Fortress of arrogance) my Leviathan and my three quarters built Imperator. (though if truth be told, the leviathan deserves better)

6000 points IG, Leviathins 8th company, (store regiment) 60% painted
4500 points Empire 80-90% painted!
2500 Ogres 2% painted
WIP Biker Battle Company 95% painted
2500 Points Isstavan Drop site massacre Iron Hands (still waiting for dat codex)
I managed to play a 1750 point game with minimal proxieing on the first day DE came out. go me!

may i ask?

What, pray tell, is a Leviathin?

and how can it deserve more attention then an Imperitor?

It is a 1500 point 6 bastions and a shrine of the aquilla on 2 sets of bane blade tracks. I was going from smallest to largest, and there is the fact that my Leviathan is actually finished. Check KidKyoto's gallery for my insperation.

I said it deserves better because the simi-official BOLS datasheet I am using kinda sucks.

Out of the non-Apocalypse tanks, I would say the Executioner is by far the most lethal. The Crusader and the new Baal are also quite good. The former for being a tough-as-nails transport for up to 8 terminators, that has the guns to take out 2 vehicles a turn, or pop one vehicle and hose the contents down with lead. The Baal has similar firepower, and is also a scouting fast tank.

You cant pop the tank AND shoot the contents with 1 vehicle, as all shooting is simultaneous from the same unit. So if you try to declare the target" the guys in the tank" you fail when trying to fraw LOS to them.

Other than that the Crusader is pretty nice...not that im jealous as a chaos player with our rubbish 'raider....

Machine Spirit allows you to target a different unit with one weapon. MM at transport, everything else at the squad within. Is there a "simultaneous" clause that prevents this despite the special rule?

Well, yes - the shooting rules, which state that all firing from one unit is resolved at the same time. So, you can TRY to declare your targetting the unit inside the transport, however when you actually come to the shooting rules - check LOS - for all the weapons AT THE SAME TIME, you find you cannot draw LOS to the unit in the vehicle. Meaning your shot automatically misses.

The special rule has nothing to say about this - just because it can fire at a different target (exactly like the Tau upgrade) doesnt mean it fires as a different unit.

In terms of non-superheavy armour, you can't beat a Tau Hammerhead in terms of survivability and offensive capacity.

AV13, a Railgun, two S5 independently firing weapons and for a few points you can give it (effectively) a 4+ invulnerable save, make it a fast vehicle, let it ignore dangerous terrain and any units assaulting it risk taking wounds on a 4+.

Boo and indeed ya.

I think it was in the first or second Ultramarine novel... Serving as a mobile HQ.

Awesome.

That said, I think the Exorcist doesn't belong on a battlefield, and if i ever get around to it I'm probably gonna scratch build the missile launcher for it.

My vote for best tank goes to the Shadowsword or the Stormblade. Huge amounts of firepower with almost impervious armour: What's not to like? Although the Valdor Tank Hunter looks pretty sweet too, "It's more gun than vehicle!"

Tau Hammerhead. Fast, hard to kill (even harder with cheap 5 point upgrade) and a nasty railgun on top. All for only 160-ish points.

14 all sides, negates any additional D6 you would roll for armor pen, deep strikes and moves enemies out of the way, has a snazzy ordnance weapon. Only draw back is army goes poof.

Well, it moves enemy infantry out of the way if it rolls destroyed on the mishap table, the way the rule for the mono is worded you're not destroyed for landing on top of enemy infantry, which isn't what happens when you scatter on top of enemy infantry, (this used to be what happened back in the day) unless you roll destroyed when you roll on the mishap table for landing on the infantry.

So long story short the mono still mishaps and will be delayed or misplaced as normal, but if it rolls destroyed it will push the infantry and float down safely .... pretty freaking stupid but it is what it is.
