Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Hey Emily, Welcome!

I started off a lot like you, not knowing what i wanted to do at all. Oddly enough I went with DE, a non-noob army(or so I have told). However after getting the pants whipped off of myself a few times I got the hang of it.

Since then I have added, Eldar, Imp Guard, Tau, and Chaos Marines too my list of armies. Eldar being the newest army, although I have been stock piling the figs for YEARS!

I guess the morale of my post is, as long as you don't mind losing a bit and learning the "Hard" way the game is fun. Also if you love building models and painting, it is even more fun!

There is no art more beautiful or diverse than the art of Death.

Welcome to Dakka,

I think Space Marines are definately one of the best choices for a new player as they're so flexible and can be quite forgiving to play. They're also easy to paint and you don't need to paint too much to have a good size army.

Cheers,

Steve

I play Eldar, Imperial Guard and Ultramarines

Grey Knights SHOULD rock in Close Assault. GK Terminators are expensive however, and you can't field enough of them to make a really hard hitting unit.
If you go points heavy your opponent can take some REALLY bad big stuff against you.

And if you don't your Grey Knights in power armour will get taken apart in close combat.

Noticed you are from the Bay Area. If you haven't already done so, Endgame in Oakland and Gamescape North in San Rafael (North Bay) have a good groups of 40K players.

Agree with first point. DEATH TO THE CORPSE EMPEROR!

Iron warriors are pretty coolio. I have a small force of them (20 marines a few Oblits and a Warsmith). Read all their books apart from The Chapters Due, as it is £17.99 in hardback -.- Honsou's hardcore in it

"And what are the achievements of your fragile Imperium? It is a corpse rotting slowly from within while maggots writhe in its belly. It was built with the toil of heroes and giants, and now it is inhabited by frightened weaklings to whom the glories of those times are half-forgotten legends."

Cool, I visit there for their Pizza and Painting nights. Would be nice to see another Dakka forumite. If you've not tried those out, they hold them every other Saturday, starting at 6 PM. Check their calendar. If you've already made a couple, then I've probably already met you.

Anyone else notice something.

All the other intro threads get a few introductions (mostly copy and pastes from other intro threads to get their post count up)

But this one, just because "she" said she was a girl ,it gets a full 3, probably 4, pages of introductions, not just "Welcome to Dakka" but full paragraphs of information, or "I'll be happy to help"

Pathetic, IMHO.

Welcome, to DakkaDakka, I know a lot about Beastmen and W.o.C in particular.

Well I am not one of those 'fake' girls that are really men. My boyfriend showed me this website...he is 'jowdy' on here and I know someone named 'fuegan17' on here too IRL as my proof! lol

Also guys (while not all of course) like girls...not a lot of girls play warhammer, video/comp games, and airsoft like me but I enjoy them but I also enjoy make-up, shopping, and getting my nails done.

I can also understand guys wanting to help girls play warhammer more than other guys because a lot of guys aren't the most fun to teach something to, and a lot of guys like to figure things out on their own instead of asking for help.

It's not pathetic that people are happy to help, there just happens to be nice people out there. The pathetic ones "IMHO" are the ones that actually take the time to complain about it.

If there is anyone whom I can indeed give any help, I happily do so. After giving Emily a few tips she added me to her friend list, and so I've continued to help her as much as I can.

Anyone who wants it are free to ask for it, she did, therefor I help her. Her gender doesn't really matter, although I admit it's pretty amazing to see girls that enjoys Warhammer, Vid/Computer games, and Airsoft, each something I myself enjoy.

And just as she said, everyone offering her assistance are nowhere near as pathetic as those who waste time whining about it. I wouldn't give a damn if she would be a male, I'm not on this forum to look for girls.

Not enough oysters.

You don't need to justify anything. You haven't done anything wrong. I don't know how to explain this in English without looking rude or harsh. It is funny that there is nice people and happy to help people, and they(we) have come together to the same thread. I wonder if the obvious fact that OP is a girl is related

We use a word in Spanish for this behaviour on the Internet, wich is sooooooo common, but I won't translate it here because it is just a joke and some people could take it wrong. When this happens in Spanish forums this would be much funnier than "you're lame" "no u" you use to take the things more seriously.

Course they might actually survive long enough to grow up to be men in the first place, so...
