Can't argue with that

Not just girls have hard making up their mind I've had at least one box/blister from each Fantasy, LotR and WH40K race/team, never being sure what I really wanted.

Well at least you have a lot of options!

keep in mind em, as much as everyone hates them around here there really are an endless amount of options open when it comes to space marines. there are so many after market bits out there that you can tailor them to whatever theme you like and one other benefit they have is the fact that when it comes to rules it is really easy to pick whatever codex suits your style of play the best and just use those rules as the rules for your "custom" chapter.

like someone else mentioned puick what you like visually and run with it. it becomes to much like work when you pick an army based upon rules or something else. its a lot easier when you truly like what youre working on.

Welcome
If you play the Daemon Hunters or Wich Hunters you can still play the other army along with the sm or ig (not at once though) (there is a special rule ... "by the athority of the immortal emperor of mand kind...)(i think thats what it is)
So if you are looking to maximise armys or cant decide between them you could just choose both

something to think about though is that ALL DAEMON HUNTERS ARE METAL ... that really sucks because they are really expencive to buy ... how ever you wont really ever be fielding a lot of them at a time (25pts per grey kningt)

The csm are very cool because they have a lot of choices. there fluff is also really cool

The With Hunters are cool becouse they are all about purging evil (with Fire!!!!)

Welcome to Dakka!

Well, Gorechild, it must be coincidence.. I mean, how many Wargamers can there be that don't have a girlfriend?

*ponders for a moment*

... .... .... .... ... Oh god, girl. Run for your life!

But yeah, Chaos could be fun. Iron Warriors are chaos, right?

Easy to paint, simular to space marines, but more details to work on... Or perhaps that's just my view on the Space Marines since the 3rd or 4th ed where they were like... plain.. A skull on their chest and some stuff in their armour joints, some borders and the face...

Chaos can pretty much have anything normal Space marines can.. Also that may be old, Space Marines have some pretty specialized chapters nowdays.. Perhaps always had. *shrug* But basicly it's the same, other heroes, some different wargears, deamons, their chapters being more strictly for different strategies compared to that of the Space Marines. (Khorne Melee, Nurgle... Something, Slaanesh.. Causing the other player to get his mind off of the game with nude daemons? and Tzeentch.. which pretty much just shoots anything but Terminators down as if it was butter.)

But in the 5th ed, does any of the 5 'spare' original traitor legions have any official special rules? In 4th ed they had like 'Iron Warriors gets vindicators, Nightlords are super-good in night-fighting' and so on.

I'm quite certain there's atleast HQ characters for Night Lords and Iron Warriors, not sure about the squads.. Night Lords have heads and shoulders, which pretty much costs the same as the models themselves.

Welcome. Pick an army you like the looks of and that you will enjoy painting. painting will occupy hours of your time, but this is a good thing. I am playing fantasy at the moment, and am rather new myself. my first army is a 1000 point wood elf army. When the new witch hunters codex comes out, I am thinking about putting together a Sisters of Battle army for 40k. Saint Celestine is awesome!

painted: 12 dryads,9 glade guard,2 glade guard scouts.
assembled but unpainted: 2 glade guard and the lord's bowman, 8 glade guard scouts, sexy elf lord
in the box: , 8 glade riders, , one female spellsinger, Orion, Ariel, the faerie queen. SOB immolator, 15 sisters.

Yes I'm hoping a new one comes out soon too! I'm even considering using my Tyranids I bought ages ago and never touched until a new Codex for the SoB comes out
Thank you for the input!

Welcome to Dakka!

Pick whatever you like the look of and ignore completely how they play. If you don't like the look of the army, you'll hate painting them, and you'll spend hundreds of hours finishing an army to tabletop quality.

Interesting how a post that specifies that the user is of the fairer persuasion sees far more replies than yer average 'un

I am afraid the unwritten rules of 40k demand that you play Witch Hunters, I apologise... they're expensive-as.

On a note of interested in hunters, check out Doc thunder, he produced alot of female resin heads / bodies and legs to fit guard.

Shouldnt take too much to make a plastic witch hunters army.

Also, welcome to dakka.

Yeah I've noticed that they do... That means that they've got to be Daemons whom corrupts and enslaves the will of people - Kill them (with fire)!

Luckily they don't.

A) They'd be more expensive, and would be like bad marines with low stats and weapons.

B) They wouldn't be as easy to kill!

C) They wouldn't look as awsome as they do, they'd look like... Like... Spacemarines.. With lasguns... *shivers*

In my garden being molested by an androgynous lamb.

I would say re-think Eldar, go Iron warriors or why not Tau but at the end of the day just pick the army that's right for you! Though there is a lot of Space Marine players in the world (and I despise that particular army) so it would be interesting if you didn't collect that army.

Had to post a reply... simply because the word "girl" was in the subject.

But seriously. My first army was SM. Just a few models will get you a viable army quickly, something to learn the core rules with. Just keep them primed or bare plastic for a while till you decide what to do with them. You can always convert them to CSM when the time comes, or keep them loyal. Always good to have 1750-1850pts of SMs just around anyways.

My second army was IG... because, well, tanks.

Thrid was Tau because I wanted to go anime.

Fourth was Tyranids because I wanted something truly alien and organic. And then I can eventually re-enact Whiskey Outpost.

So... yea, kind of addictive, and in no time, you'll have all of the armies you listed in your first post!

Greetings Sister,

For starting armies, I would say something hardy, so nids, csm, or sm.

Good to see you've chosen the path of Chaos

But anywho, good luck with your army and 40k.

Give me a yell if you need any ideas/suggestions!
